Want a perfect medium lens? It doesn't get any better than this LEICA 35mm f/2 ASPH. The only reason not to get this lens is that once you do, you'll never have any real reason to go lens shopping again. You'll finally be able to just go out and shoot for a change.

Just about anything. You could spend a lifetime shooting with this 35mm lens and never need another. This is an ideal medium focal-length lens. It's a slightly wide normal, or a very weak wide angle.

There isn't anything this lens doesn't do well, so if I have to find something, you might want to use a camera other than the M3 because the M3's magnificent high-magnification finder won't cover this 35mm lens.

The moderate wide-angle of the 35mm focal length is well suited to landscape and architectural photography, largely because of its relatively low inherent distortions. Its small size makes it usable for street photography as well as general snapshooting and travel.

I directly compared this lens to the most recent 35mm f2.4 Summarit lens. The comparison was made using an M246 Monochrom body. The Summarit is an incredible lens and is less expensive. However, its rendering is different--a bit more clinical in my opinion.

This lens is small and very light weight, but solid with a lens hood that I really like. It is a good all around lens for travel and daily use. I do not think that it has the optical quality of the Summicron - M 28mm f/2, which I think is a better choice.

Great all round lens and exceptionally sharp

I have not taken this lens off for over a month now and it is my go to lens. I have the Summilux-M 1:1.4/50mm ASPH which is a great lens too, but the 35mm seems to fit every occasion. It is compact in size and the construction with the metal hood and the smooth focus ring makes for a great lens.

I just acquired the silver version. Optically it is the same as the black, but it is made from brass instead of alloy. It gives it a denser feeling, and gives the aperture ring a more solid feeling. The sharpness and clarity of this lens wide open is breathtaking.

It's a little bigger than the previous version, but it's still as amazing as ever. The 35mm Summicron is a lens you never get tired of. This is the one lens you can live with if you could only have one. To me, it is the "normal" lens for all 35mm rangefinders. How good is it?

The 35mm f2 Summicron-M ASPH lens is the latest, best version of the venerable line of Leica 35mm f2 Summicron lenses which many photographers have adopted as their primary lens for Leica M rangefinder photography, where it excels especially in unobtrusive street photography.

Possibly the sharpest 35mm wide-angle lens you can buy at this writing. Wide-open, stopped down, it doesn't matter - it's sparkling and snappy-sharp to the corners at every aperture. I've also owned the earlier version one and three 35mm Summicrons.
