Manfrotto XPRO Geared 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head

I have tried it out briefly and it seems to do exactly what I want. It is easier to position than past heads which tend to sag a big after lockdown. Being able to move the geared settings is great---zero right in on what you want.

I am impressed with this head, I have 6 other heads, but this is my 1st geared head. I am using it on a fairly light weight Bogen tripod, there is no shake, the gears work very smooth with no backlash, I would call this a medium duty head useful with DSLRs up to 400mm lenses.

There are a number of bad reviews out there saying this head is not stable enough.If I was shooting outside with wind, I would use my Manfrotto 405 head. For travel and interior shooting, this saves a few pounds (significant).

Precise, but there is play in the mechanism requiring some additional tinkering before the exact settings are accomplished. Once set, the only noticeable wiggle was in the tripod.

I am a professional real estate photographer. I purchased this item because I wanted to use the geared system for ultra accurate lines in my shots. It performs as described however, after only a few shoots..

I have found good all rounder as well

Nice controllable head and not too heavy, easy to carry around

I love the design, that you can make quick adjustments by pinching the levers, then refine by turning the knobs. However, my plate has started to wobble. Costs over £100 to convert to Arca Swiss.
