Maytag 4.2 cu. ft. 28 Inch Top Load Washer

The Maytag MVWC565FW top load washer is a large capacity washing machine that gets the toughest stains out of your fabrics.

This machine has wonderful feature choices but the water sensor is a problem as other buyers indicated. Sometimes it puts in enough water to just cover clothes and other times there is insufficient water with clothes sticking up out of the water.

I hate that we have no control over the water level, if washing sheets and large bundles then you can place the dial on deep water wash, but if washing a medium size batch of laundry the water level is only about 3 to 4 inches and doesn't even begin to cover the clothes, IT seems to me that the...

  Doesn't Clean Well

We purchased this unit as part of a pair and are very glad we did. We've had it for several weeks and it has performed perfectly. Our clothes have never been so clean and the auto sensor for the water level is already saving us money on the water bill.

I don't care for the auto sensing feature. It barely allows enough water to wet the clothes sufficiently to wash them. I find that I don't use that feature and use the deep wash feature every time which isn't the most efficient. Also, the agitator is not very agitating.

I like the Maytag washer, it works very well. The only thing is it is noisy while it senses water levels and begins the wash cycle. It also is noisy during the spin if your load is not exactly evenly loaded. It does eventually level itself out. The agitator works differently than the older washers.

We replaced a broke down Kenmore with this Maytag. Its very different in that it sort of "weighs" the load and sets the water level accordingly. This makes for a longer wash time that we're used to. Also, we were used to putting in clothes, then as water was pouring in, add the soap. No more!

I had been using a very old but efficient top loading washer, so I purchased this top loading Maytag. I might not understand the auto sensing system--when used it doesn't even cover the clothes with water and I don't think I like that.

I like the many choices of settings on the washer esp. the "Auto Water Level" which will help our water bill.. Plus. I am from Iowa.. Maytag used to be manufactured there. My mother had a Maytag washer for many years.

The cycles take way too long. With my last Maytag washer it took about 45min to wash any load, now this washer takes anywhere from 90 min to over 2 hours. This is way too long. I feel like l am doing laundry all day long.

Somehow I missed that this was a high efficiency washer. I guess I was deceived by the presence of the agitator. I intended to buy the non-high efficiency as the HEs just don't clean well. On top of it all, the water level sensor doesn't work very well and rarely puts enough water in the load.
