Nikon launched an intriguing new lens this summer though you might have missed it. For whatever reason, the AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6E ED VR, which was announced the second week of July, slipped under most photographers’ radar and that’s a shame.
The new Nikon Nikkor full frame AF-P 70-300mm zoom lens really hits the mark. Auto focusing speed is extremely fast and accurate--the focused image literally jumps into the view finder the instant you press the shutter release. The new optics are superior as evidenced by the six photos below.
Bought this to pair with a Nikon 1 V2 specifically for shooting birds in flight. The maximum reach is 810mm at F5.6 on a V2. This combo is much lighter and smaller than a DSLR and 500 or 600mm lens but with comparable results. Very sharp lens.

Light lens that can reach 800mm and take sharp photos without tripod at 1/80

Need to have steady hands. Hand movement is greatly magnified by 2.7 times at 800mm
I use the Nikon1 system professionally in my work as a still photographer on TV productions. I own almost all the 1 Nikkor lenses. The addition of the 70-300 will let me get closer to the action than before. I've also have the FT-1 which I use with a couple larger Nikon lenses.

Easy to use and takes great pictures
I first bought a Nikon 1 V2 for digiscoping then I bought this lens. It is absolutely incredible. Even at full zoom with a steady hand you can consistently get sharp images. The camera with lens weighs very little.

The only bad thing I have to say about this lens is that it is just a little noisy when it focus's, nothing major at all . . .
