I used the lens to cover a Triathlon race. Lots of action going on and the Autofocus worked great. I used to get my 70-200 2.8 but this lens is a whole new world of possibilities. Of course, it's not a lens for shooting indoors matches (the 400mm 2.8 is still the best) but it is amazing for outdoor...

Just received this behemoth two days ago. My initial impression is : Nikon Got It Right On This One ! It looks and feels very well built, heavy but worth all the lifting. VR really does give a 4.5 + Stops advantage.

The included lens bag is a joke
So there was a huge hole in Nikon’s lens lineup for the average guy like me. Until now I couldn’t afford a super tele to take wildlife pics and super low depth of field photos with. Bam! So glad I bought this lens.
