Optically stabilized design. Constant f/2.8 aperture. Quite sharp. Solid build.

Uneven illumination at f/2.8. Edge performance suffers at wide apertures. Some distortion. Premium price.
I use this lens for sports and event photography and find the focusing to be much faster and more accurate. Image quality seems better than the old version. I got excellent results shooting in low light at 1/15 sec on D4s using the VR.
