While it may not be a 2.8, as far as overall value is concerned, this 24-120 f4 for the Nikon mirrorless line is at the very top of Nikon's (or any third party's) offerings when it comes to versatility, weight, and image quality.

I love, love, love this lens. I started in photography back around 1976 in the analog film era. I’ve shot as an amateur and professionally and have done most types of photography including portraits, landscapes/scenics, wildlife, rock concerts, promotional, and aerials.

Primarily a prime shooter, I wanted an everyday walkabout lens, that was compact enough to take on holiday and hikes, yet have the quality and sharpness I've been accustomed to with my Z S line primes and Sigma Art primes. This Z 24-120 f/4 satisfies those needs and then some.

I had the Z 24-70 f4 and loved it. Took it to Iceland and other awesome spots. I recently got the 24-120 and WOW there is so much to love about this lens. The extra 50mm is just right on so many occasions. The lack of the lock position is appreciated. The 77mm filter threads is fantastic.

Always had the F mount 24-120 in my kit when I used DSLR's. When I transisitioned to my current Nikon Z system, I was looking for something similar. I had the Nikon Z 24-200 and the Z 24-70 F 4 lenses (and they were both brilliant), but i replaced the 24-200 with the 24-120 S and haven't regretted...

Excellent all round zoom lens with perfect compromise of image quality, weight, zoom range, build quality, auto focusing. Kudos to Nikon for striking a good balance.
