The Nikon Z 35mm F1.8 S is a solid medium-wideangle lens for the Z series, which offers excellent sharpness and pleasant handling characteristics on the Z6 and Z7. Low light fans might miss a wider aperture, and optically, the 35mm cannot compete with its (cheaper) cousin the Z 50mm f1.8 S, but for...

It’s quite a lot to pay for a humble 35mm f/1.8, but the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S’s optical performance immediately shows where the money’s been spent. It’s quite a lot to pay for a humble 35mm f/1.8, but the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S’s optical performance immediately shows where they money’s been spent.

Steep price point
As one of two prime lenses currently available for Nikon’s brand new Z Mount, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm f1.8 S features excellent weather sealing in a compact, lightweight package. Aside from Canon, who makes a 35mm f1.8 Macro for their RF Mount, no other Full Frame Mirrorless system currently on the...
Nikon Super Integrated Coating is Nikon's term for its multilayer coating of the optical elements in NIKKOR lenses.
First launches of the Nikon Z system show that in this case the producers are going to follow similar tactics. It's really splendid that several interesting f/1.8 primes were added to that system so soon, especially that prices of new full frame mirrorless instrumets are usually quite steep; if...

distinct vignetting on full frame,, a lot of coma-related problems.
Fitted to the Z7 camera body, this lens is great for street photography, being fast, weather-resistant and providing wide enough coverage to encompass some of the subjects’ environment while enabling the photographer to get reasonably close to subjects.
I've been shooting with this lens for about 3 months now and I love it. Using this lens on my Z7 has made me fall in love with the 35mm perspective all over again. Its sharp, compact and great in low light for everything from landscapes to newborn shoots, but also quiet enough (for me) to use for...
I have been shooting primarily with Leica full frame / manual focuscameras over the last couple of years, but I was looking for an auto focus equivalent. I recently purchased a Z6 as it is more of a stills camera than the competition (no prior AF Nikon, Canon, or Sony lenses to push towards one...
The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S delivers everything that you would expect from Nikon and their long history of offering the highest quality optical lenses. The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S is a nice upgrade to it's F mount equivalent and offeres better edge sharpness, better contract, less lens flaring, and the...
Considering its lighter, smaller, and native to Z-mount, I was surprised that the performance is so much better than the F-mount Nikon and Sigma Art primes that I also have. Its sharper edge-to-edge, AF is faster, no chromatic aberrations, no distortion, well-built, honestly I dont know what to...
This is among the best lenses Nikon makes now. I spent many a happy photojournalism adventure in my film days with just a Nikon and a 35mm lens (shooting Tri-X pushed to 1600, of course). This lens brings back that legacy but updates the quality of this 35mm lens to 21st Century digital standards.
There is a reason this lens is getting 5 stars from everyone so far. 35 mm is perfect focal length for event, street photography and group shots (No wide angle distortion). 2 ED and 3 aspherical glass will give best picture quality than any other 35 mm 1.8 or third party 1.4 lenses.
The 50 mm f/1.8 S series lens for the Z mount is a fast focusing lens that creates sharp images and really nice bokeh, especially for a 50 mm prime lens. It is light and easy to carry... The S series lenses by Nikon are all great! Can’t wait for the 70-200mm f/2.8 to be released.
If I could do it all over again when I purchased my Nikon Z6, I would have got this lens rather than the kit lens. While the 24-70 F4 lens offers good performance, I have found the 35mm F1.8 to be especially versatile in a wide range of shooting situations.
So far, my experience with all the native Z lenses is great. I have the 50 f/1.8, 35 f/1.8, 24-70 f/2.8 and the 14-30 f/4. I own both the Z6 and Z7 bodies. I switched to the Z system from a D850 and Df and have no regrets (except for focus performance when compared with the awesome D850).
When I received the Z6 and FTZ adapter, my plan was to use only F-mount lenses, specifically my 35mm F1.4 Nikkor lens. While the F-mount 35mm F1.4 lens worked well on the Z6, as I read about the 35mm F1.8 S lens, I became curious.
