The controls on this flash unit are the most intuitive that I have ever seen. Yes, you can go into the menus for more control, if you really need it.
I use this ring flash on a Macro Nikkor 60mm lens, with a Nikon body for dental/orthodontic photography. The light dispersion is very good, the recharge time is excellent, and I like the ability to increase the strength on one side compared to the other to avoid shadows.
Works great, simple to use. Note that it does not include a 55mm adapter ring which is required if you have a Tamron or Tokina macro lens
Ring flash is lightweight, very easy to mount and feels stable. Programming is intuitive. Nice quality of light and the assortment of adapter rings is very helpful. I wish the terminal box could be smaller and lighter.
Have had it less than a week and have not used it for Macro yet but shot all weekend at a comicon and I love the soft and/or harsh light that it puts on portraits. It was easy to use and adjust light. Best lights I own.
Something happened it had sparkling and it is burnt!
Still have not given it full test. But so far Works great. No instruction book to fit case. Some people do not have printer to make book, or printer that prints color!!. How cheap can you get?? . Flash works well with step down ring 86 mm to 82 mm with Sigma 180 mm f2.8 macro lens.
I was able to attach this to my 82mm Sigma 24-105mm lens, but the vignetting is terrible. Your photo will be in the center of a dark circle.
I am an amateur who dabbles in event, street, and sports photography. I wanted to move into portraiture because I get a lot of requests this time of year to take (free) prom pictures of the debs in the 'hood. I needed a softer light and could only afford one purchase.
This flash works really well. It recycles fast. It is quite bright. It does TTL perfectly with Nikon cameras. A nice feature is that you can adjust the left right balance so that the image has slight shadows left or right. You can vary the overall brightness up or down in third stops.
