The Philips Brilliance is a unique, outrageous screen - but it's not wholly successful. The huge size, width and resolution are undoubtedly a boon for plenty of work scenarios: there's loads of screen real estate for applications that need loads of width, and it'll be easier to work on this panel...
-
+
Huge widescreen design; Vast resolution; Great basic benchmark results; Plenty of ports
-
-
Poor in some colour gamuts; Inconsistent uniformity; Some design issues; Very expensive
An ultrawide display designed with productivity in mind, the Philips Brilliance 499P9H is perfect for dual-computer setups.
-
+
Huge display, Built-in KVM switch, Plenty of connectivity options
-
-
Webcam falls short of other monitors, Hard to find
There's a lot to consider when summing up the Philips Brilliance 499P9H, so let's get the obvious out of the way first; if you're looking for a mega-wide gaming monitor, this isn't it.
-
+
Sleeker than multiple monitors, Bright panel with good colour accuracy, 32:9 aspect ratio great for productivity, Integrated multi-client KVM, Convenient USB-C docking, Windows Hello face recognition, Useful stereo speakers
-
-
Poor-quality webcam, Basic HDR credentials, Software support could be better
What really distinguishes this screen is the business-class features. Things like the pop-up webcam and KVM switch. It might be hard to call the 499P9H a value-oriented monitor, but if you can see yourself making use of those features, it’s easy to get a lot of value out of a monitor like this.
The Philips Brilliance 499P9H offers a winning combination of a gigantic, ultra-wide curved screen—shining with a bright, vivid image—and extras like a Windows Hello-compatible webcam and a built-in KVM switch.
-
+
Immense ultra-wide screen with 5K horizontal resolution., Bright image., Good color fidelity., Supports HDR., USB-C power delivery., Built-in KVM switch.
-
-
On the pricey side., Buttons, instead of joystick, for OSD control.
The Philips Brilliance 499P9H is a whopper of a screen, and as our first look at this 32:9 format it gains from the wow factor of its incredible width. However, it won't be alone as other manufacturers have monitors this size on the roadmap or released already.
-
+
It's really, really wide., Makes running two inputs side-by-side very possible., Highly immersive, with edges beyond your peripheral vision., Alternatives with same 32:9 aspect more expensive., Decent level of brightness., Comprehensive, cutting-edge selection of video inputs including USB C.
-
-
Colour not as accurate as you would want in a screen this price., 60Hz refresh and 5ms pixel response aren't ideal for gaming.
This 49" screen is the biggest we've played with yet - but just how practical is the monitor for creatives to use instead of gamers?
Immense size and resolution make for an interesting monitor, but its inconsistent design and performance cause problems
-
+
Huge width, Great resolution, Good performance
-
-
Lacking colour accuracy and gamut coverage compared to other monitors, HDR is subpar, Poor uniformity
Philip’s new insanely wide 32:9-aspect 49-inch monitor is packed with practical features, proving that it's much more than just a pretty face
-
+
Interesting alternative to dual monitors, Great feature set, Good LCD panel quality

Too big for some desk spaces, Mediocre pixel pitch, Very expensive
I use a KVM with multiple systems. I wanted the screen area of two monitors without the hassle of dealing with two monitors. After a lot of research I settled on this monitor. I run it at 5120x1440 with DisplayPort. It is excellent!
I was looking for a while to find an ultrawide monitor with an actually usable resolution.I compared this to other equivalents at the time and found this one to be the best choice for my use case, which is non-UI-related software development. To me, real estate is most important.
Wished the 49B2U6900CH/27 model is for sale in the US! While this model, 499P9H/27 is okay, I needed the additional USB ports, better webcam with the busy light feature, and the superior KVM switch utilizing the CLRL keyboard button the 49B2U6900CH/27 model offers.
This is an absolutely wonderful monitor. Colors are gorgeous and in sRGB mode it's just the perfect brightness for long hours of work. Install Microsoft PowerToys and set up some snap zones...
This is exactly what we were looking for. Nice display multiple options. Couldn't go wrong with this purchase!
Would have paid twice as much for it to work better. Menu difficult and you can only adjust volume through the menu, not on the computer. Speakers don’t always connect and requires a restart. All USB ports should have been usb c out ports instead fo the old ones.
it does NOT feature a genuine working one cable only usb-c system-does NOT charge my HP envy x360 13.3 over usb-c - cant figure our why-does NOT allow for webcam/ windows hello over usb-c - you need to use the usb upstream cable which defeats the purpose of having the webcam built into the monitor-...
Bought in Jan of 2021. Worked good until July 2021. Trying to get warranty support. No phone. Just email so far. Came with 4 year warranty.
The maximum resolution it supports with Mac OS 10.14.4 is 3840x1080. My computer is a MBP 15" 2018 with 2.6Ghz i7 32GB ram and Radeon Pro 560x 4GB graphics card. The maximum resolution the monitor works at with my MBP is 3840x1080.
This thing is amazing. Best screen i've ever owned by far. I'm blown away at the size, resolution and hub features. I have a 2018 MacBook Pro 2.6ghz, radeon 560, etc.. I used the "ScreenResX" app to adjust the MacOS deficiency in supporting this screen. Works perfectly.

size omg omg omg, resolution is perfect, color is great but i'm only a casual gamer
