Got this bad boy and I don't regret it, I purchased it for my home studio set up because my RodeNT1A is a great mic but I needed something that didn't compromise quality but would reject a lot of room noise, Rode procaster in my opinion is very comparable to the SM7B Musical Background: Music...
Perfect pickup range. Smooth natural sound. No need for extra gain on the front end if using the right set-up. Using a Zoom F8 with 8 mics (7 dynamic) and an F control. Plenty of volume! No problem with noise. Setting the high pass between 80--120.
The Procaster is a fantastic microphone. It surpassed my expectations. Comparable to the RE20 and in my opinion better than the MD421 as stated in another review. The construction is very high quality. Great for broadcast. Great for voiceover work as well. Also for vocalists.
Use this with my Rodecaster Pro. Main podcast mic. No regrets. Sounds great. Not too heavy.
I am the host of a short show on PBS in NJ. I had been recording my voice-overs at the filmmakers studio using the recorder in his camera. I decided for convenience to buy a microphone, recorder and earphones to record the voice overs at home and send the filmmaker the sound clips via the internet.
I bought this microphone for recording voiceovers for my church's radio program. The quality of the sound is excellent and the microphone does a great job of excluding background noise. The output is rather low, so I use a FETHEAD to bring it up.
This is a very serious mic for the money. Sounds great and is built like a tank. I wasn't expecting a mic in this price range to be as good as it is. Have only used it for voice-over, but so far it sounds very good.
I got this mic to try and help solve a problem with a difficult, not very well isolated or treated recording space, and i've got to say it really did help! And it really does sound great!!
I needed a second mic for my podcasts and decided on this one. I have a RodeCaster Pro and have my RE20 connected to it. I hooked up the Procaster, adjusted RodeCaster mic selection and did a short 30s recording. Very impressive.
I record 4K videos in my home studio with this wonderful mic plugged into myBeachtekDXA-MICRO-PRO Active XLR Compact Adapter which is then plugged into my digital camera. I primarily use this set up with with my Fuji X-T2 camera (with battery grip).
