Need is the mother of all invention. This was what made a top notch company like Rode to create a lightweight, durable, and immensely high quality microphone for the miniDV camera. Peter Freedman, Mr. Rode himself, ?
The Mic works great but the design of it is pretty bad. From the battery case being almost impossible to figure out to the shock casing that continually falls apart. This mic is needs an overhaul to make it a lot more functional and user friendly.

Difficult To Use, Not Durable, Poor Design
I bought the RODE videomic Lightweight at Adorama it was on sale for $79. I was very happy. Until I actually tried it. I used it on a Nikon D610. Adjusted the preferences on the camera to have a volume with peak at 8/10. Then I downloaded the videos on my Mac and what a poor audio I got.

Not Functional, Poor Quality Noises
I saw this Mic and rely wanted it. But when it came I got someone else package. Called up CS and told them what happened and gave them all the info they wanted even went as far as to send them pics of the box 3 times. I'm on the 3erd week when they said it would only take a week to clear.
