☛Stereo VideoMic Pro: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007HYVMY0?... The Stereo VideoMic Pro by Rode for SLR/DSLR Cameras! This is the successor to the VideoMic Pro, which launched in 2011. ☛Dead Kitten: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product...
I tried everything to reduce ambient noise and hiss (+20db, disabling on-camera AGC... etc) but this mic just captures everything.I was using the Rode SmartLav+ before and was expecting better sound with this.
The only reason I give this mic a 4.5 and not a 5 is because the connection wire to camera was not very long at all and needed to buy an extension since I was actually setting the mic up closer than the camera was. Otherwise, performed great!
I've been using this model of mic on YouTube since September 2013 in all kinds of sever weather conditions -30°C to +35°C, even damp locations but be care to not get it wet. the dead kitten does help direct rain hit the mic but no good if dead kitten gets soaked.
This is my second one
I bought this mic for my Canon T4i for recording high school football. I am very pleased with the audio quality recorded in my videos. Very easy to use and great quality! Highly recommended!
If you need to plug a shotgun mic straight into your camera, skip this mic and go for the VideoMic Pro which allows more control over audio levels and eliminates hiss/noise. I wish I would have known this before wasting my money on a mic that requires post-production noise reduction in every audio...
Though on-camera is typically a terrible place for a mic, the application has its place. If you're shooting on DSLR, Canon Cinema, or even a small camcorder, this is a must-have for nats recording, and for clear scratch audio to sync with dual-system audio.
This Mic is perfect for vloggers! Love how lightweight and compact the mic is while also enhancing the audio accompaniment for video footage.
So far this is a great mic for my DSLR. I like the light weight and portability of it. It uses camera power, but for those who don't want to carry extra battery weight, this is perfect. I really produces clear vocal audio.
