I bough this to replace a carbon fibre Jobu monopod which could be inconvenient to travel with as it did not collapse as short as this Sirui. I dont mind the slight weight penalty of the aluminum model but it is hard to get this monopod to be really rigid - there is some slop in the joints.
I was looking for a monopod to take on a trip to Ireland to use for landscapes in lieu of a bulky tripod. I didn't want to spend a lot of money since I don't envision using it that much. Carbon fiber was appealing, but you typically pay twice as much for carbon as compared to aluminum.
I was wanting a monopod that would fit in a suitcase for a trip to Europe. I had bought a Sirui tabletop tripod with ball head about a year ago that I have been well-pleased with, so I decided to go with the Sirui P-306 monopod, too. It's well-made and compact--just what I want.
I purchased this monopod to help give stability to my Lumix FZ-200 when at max zoom. Hand-holding at max zoom can be a challenge, particularly in lower light conditions. I also wanted a monopod that would compact down to a very small size and be light weight for travel, but still be strong and easy...
I have not used this much but, so far, it seems like a very well built monopod. It is also compact and light. I am sure that a carbon fiber monopod would be lighter but probably not enough to matter.
Very convenient, stable and compact monopod. Can use vary ballheads.
Very lightweight and easy to set up, good for documentary production. No fancy features.
I bough the to replace a light Manfroto monopod which has failed due to broken leg lock. So far I have used this orly few times but it seems very well built. The main feature is that it folds to a very short length so it fits into the messenger bag I use to carry my photo gear when I travel.
a must have if u get tired of standing and holding ya heavy gear and if you are SEMI & PRO SPORTS SHOOTER
Solid Monopod, feels like good quality in the hands. Just a bit bigger than I expected but by no means is that the fault of the monopod. In my opinion for the price it is great.
