I am an amateur photographer. I read a lot of reviews on a lot of sites and looked at quite a few tripods before selecting the Slik 340 DX. Many of the reviews said that you cannot find a decent tripod for under $ and most are junk.
I used this as a travel tripod to photograph the recent eclipse and for macro photos with a Sony RX10. On the plus side, the tripod is lightweight, well made, packs up tight, and easily fits in my suitcase.
I love traveling with this tripod. It's small, compact, and light weight. There are others that weigh less but this tripod seems sturdy when its put on the ground and the head holds the weight of the canon 7d.
I'm using this with an Olympus E-M1 II kit, and it's a great match. Very stable for flip-lock legs, lightweight, and works well with a medium-duty ball head. Well made, too, including the included rubber grips on each leg.
I was looking for a tripod for travel that was lightweight but not flimsy. and thought I'd try the 340DX. It was obviously too inexpensive to be any good, but I was wrong. This is the equal of anything two or three times it's price.
Muy estable para Nikkon ideal
Nor is it titanium alloyed with aluminum. There's no spec given, but if there's any titanium here I'd bet it's no more than 5%. It is light as promised, but very flexible. This site (or some 3rd party review site) really should test or get specs for stiffness and vibration damping.
I just used this tripod for the first time - easy to use right out of the box. Works great with my spotting scope. Best of all - it folds down to just 24" so easy to take when traveling - even by air! Bonus - carrying case is sturdy and lightweight. Highly recommend this product.
I've travel all over Europe with this tripod and love it.
I have many tripods, from super light and small to big and heavy, but ended up using this one most. It is a very good size and weight to carry, and still very sturdy. The pan-tilt head is good for general usage, but I swapped it with a more compact ball head for travelling.
