Sonos’ original Beam wowed with just how much home theater audio it packed into its tiny footprint, and now the Beam (Gen 2) is adding Dolby Atmos to the mix. A little more expensive at $449, and a lot smarter inside, this new Beam sees Sonos double-down on targeting an audience that wants surround...

Dolby Atmos support adds extra sense of audio height, Wider, more immersive soundstage, Easy setup and minimal footprint in your room, Sonos' multi-room support still can't be beat
-
-
$449 price tag makes it an expensive soundbar, Falls short of the full Dolby Atmos experience, No Bluetooth or auto Trueplay tuning
The second-generation Sonos Beam soundbar adds Dolby Atmos support and two more audio processing channels, for an impressive sound field that retains the previous model's compact size.
-
+
Big sound field for its size, Full and crisp sound, from low-mids to highs, Dolby Atmos audio sounds precise and immersive, even without rear speakers
-
-
Not much deep bass without optional (and pricey) subwoofer, No Bluetooth support, Trueplay audio tuning only available for iOS
Just like the original, the Beam Gen 2 is an awesome product that's worth the $450 price tag. Sonos’ streamlined app and Wi-Fi integration, the clean design, and the Beam’s excellent acoustic performance (Atmos or not) each play their part to create a real symphony of a soundbar.

Excellent sound and features, Respectable virtual Dolby Atmos, Elegant design

So-so overhead audio, No spare HDMI input, Still no Trueplay for Android
“Dolby Atmos adds a splash of 3D fun to an already excellent soundbar.”
The Sonos Beam Gen 2 is an impressive piece of equipment. It’s got a compact, understated design, offers a range of smart features, and improves on the original Beam in some meaningful ways. If you have the original Beam, it’s probably not worth upgrading unless you really want Dolby Atmos.
The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) >IS< the soundbar you are looking for!
With the addition of Dolby Atmos, the second-generation Beam sounds far more immersive than before..
Outside of Atmos, the Beam is a lovely soundbar, offering a great vibrant sound on par with the original, yet now found in a more stylish and minimalist design. It’s still a lovely soundbar, and if you were planning on getting one a few weeks ago, you’ll now get an extra: kinda-sorta-Atmos.

+
Beautiful minimalist design, Sounds as good as it ever did, Balanced solid sound for music and movies, Works with rear speakers in the Sonos system, Supports the other Sonos multiroom speakers
-
-
Improvements on the original are minor (if even noticeable at all), Inclusion of Atmos seems like a minor thing, and not the reason you'd buy it, Atmos is simulated, and so doesn't give you that full 3D effect like on the Arc, You can't update to a full 3D Atmos sound with any Sonos speakers yet
At $699, this bar isn’t exactly cheap, but it is extremely affordable given how great the sound quality is, and how versatile it is.
The Beam Gen 2 delivers with a mature and polished sound and effective virtual Atmos performance

Effective handling of Dolby Atmos, Warm, refined sound, Streaming smarts

No additional HDMI ports, Doesn’t support DTS:X
Small home now has excellent sound. So easy to hook up. Needed some help and got it. Turned out a port on my TV was not working so they talked me through an alternate setup. Never buying electronics anywhere else.
Great sound, great product and super easy set up.

Crisp clear sound, well made, seamless integration with other Sonos speakers, simple set up
Buy this set up! Dont look back!
I had the Gen 1 Beam which was fantastic and couldn't fault it at all. However, as soon as I saw the Gen 2 supported Dolby Atmos and a much faster processor, I knew I had to give it a try and I'm not disappointed!
I am extremely pleased with my purchase, I have been researching a new music system for quite a while. When I couldn’t get my beam anywhere I was happy to hear of the new upgraded version. The waiting was definitely worth it, I’m sure I still have a lot more to learn about it’s capabilities

Great sound from a compact and stylish looking sound bar. A great match for my 48 inch lg c1.
You will need an Iphone to completely set-up the bar, which was not specified. Fortunately my neighbor had one and we were able to use the Sonos Truplay option. Plugged into the Bravia Xr 80, the sound from the bar is inferior of the TV.
I owned a previous TCL sound bar before, and it was very high in bass it gave me a major headache. Also the sound was boosted, but didnt feel clean. This sonos soundbar on the other hand felt smooth and clean. My tv is a TCL 65 inch and it already has a great inbult soundbar.
sounds good. Neat. good tech.
