Handling and features A common complaint with Sony's NEX camera system is the size lenses need to be due to the large APS-C sized imaging sensor. This new E16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens may be the answer to that issue.

The Sony E 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS broke a couple of records but unfortunately not in the positive sense. Its uncorrected distortion and vignetting figures are nothing short of insane. So Sony obviously doesn't want the lens to be used without enabled aberration compensation.
Since getting my a6000 I've gotten several lenses that are stellar. This 16-50mm kit lens is not that bad at all. f8 is the sweet spot throughout the range and if you keep this in mind you'll get some nice corners. Check out my attacked shots for examples.
I preordered it a couple of months ago and it just arrived from Sony.ca this week. The images produced by the lens (except when zoomed in all the way) have some of the worst distortion and barreling I have seen.

Distortion. Almost unusable on older NEX5.
Does what it's suppose to.
I find this tiny lens to be better than I expected, and it will be useful with the a6500 when the smallest possible kit is required.
