Unless you've already got an alpha system lens you want to make use of with an adapter, the Sony 18-200mm Æ’/3.5-6.3 E is a no-brainer of an upgrade. Offering better performance than the kit lens, with more reach to boot, it's an obvious choice, so long as you don't mind carrying around a system...
So far I have done only one shoot - at a education function in a gymnasium. When unboxing the lens, it appeared so large compared to the two kit lenses that came with the Sony A6000 that I thought I had picked the wrong lens. It is relatively big and heavy.
I got this lens included with my VG30 and I must say I really enjoy it. The focus and zoom rotate very smoothly. The only thing that bothers me is the bump at the bottom of the lens. It makes it alittle uncomfortable to handle, but overall a great lens.

Very sharp and clear

Slow power zoom
I was amazed to get blur free handheld shots at 200mm shooting at 1/20s in the rain holding an umbrella (£5mm equiv 300mm). Not one off but shot 100s and very few rejects that morning. Also good for stable hand held video.

Good IQ, great stabilisation, great for video

lens will self extend if hanging vertically and not locked at 18mm
Had hi hopes for this lens because of the focal range at a good price. The focus was just OK. I felt the power zoom was unusable. Because the motor has to externally extend the lens it sticks when it starts. This causes a noticeable verticle jump at the beginning.
Good lens but not full frame. Returned.
