If you can stand its speakers, Sony's XBR-X900B will reward you with the best combination of audio and video quality you've ever seen (or heard).

  • +

The Sony XBR-X900B series provides the best picture quality of any 4K TV we've tested so far, competing well against the better plasmas. It also pumped out best sound of any TV we've heard, bar none. Its prominent speakers and high-end finish makes a unique luxury TV statement.

  • -

Those speakers: you'll either love 'em or hate 'em. Most people won't love 'em. The X900B is also more expensive than most 65-inch 4K TVs. The high resolution doesn't provide a major boost in image quality, especially with non-4K content. The 3D image suffers from substantial crosstalk.

The Sony X900F is one hell of a good 4K HDR TV with a reasonably high level of value for the price its sells at. We recommend it very much. In terms of value delivered per dollar spent, the X900F is one of Sony’s single best values for 2018.

  • +

Good value for its price, Excellent overall display brightness, fantastic HDR content delivery, high quality color performance across the board, Great 4K TV for gaming, Lots of content apps and Google Play, Google Assistant

  • -

poor viewing angles, Peak brightness could have been higher, weak native audio performance

Sony's X900F 4K TV series is bright, colorful, and stylish. It can put out well over 1,000cd/m 2 when pushed, and it comes packed with features thanks to its Android TV interface. Its black levels are mediocre, however, and light bloom can hurt its effective contrast.

  • +

Very bright panel. Excellent color performance. Lots of features. Attractive design.

  • -

Mediocre black levels with light bloom. Interface can feel slow and jerky. Expensive.

Sony's X900F 4K TV series is among the brightest we've tested, with excellent color and tons of features thanks to Android TV, though some minor issues coupled with a hefty price tag keep it from rising to the top.

  • +

Very bright panel. Excellent color performance. Lots of features. Attractive design.

It might not be the best value, but the Sony X900F offers an excellent picture, superb style and enough extras to tempt buyers who don't want a bargain brand.

  • +

The Sony XBR-X900F evinces excellent image quality, with deep black levels, accurate color, solid video processing and very good high dynamic range performance. Its modern, minimalist styling is a cut above budget models.

Sony’s inspired decision to use a direct LED lighting system and local dimming in the X900F makes the XBR-65X900F an outstanding model for the money. Inevitably, given its mid-level price point, it’s not quite perfect.

  • +

Excellent HDR picture quality, Excellent SDR picture quality, Clean, open sound, Fair value

  • -

Android TV is frustrating, Some light bloom, Limited effective viewing angle, Divisive design

Despite not boasting Sony’s top-tier video processing system, the 65X900E’s successful combination of an unusual direct lighting system with Triluminos colour technology and an eye-catchingly affordable price makes it something of a mid-range hero.

  • +

Strong HDR Pictures, Good value, Gorgeous SDR pictures, Attractive design

  • -

It could be brighter, Very limited viewing angle, Android TV can irritate, No Dolby Vision support

The X900C is going to be a truly superb 4K TV when it comes out and as far as Sony TVs go, it’s as fine a choice as any of the company’s other top-shelf models.

  • +

Excellent refresh rate, Superb contrast ratio, Very high color gamut, Truly beautiful, minimalist physical design, Full connectivity package, Excellent HD upscaling engine via X-Reality PRO tech

  • -

Poor vibrancy at off-angle viewing, No local dimming on screen, No planned HDR firmware update

I'm very happy with my purchase. The picture is amazing. The sound was OK, but the additional of a Klipsch soundbar really completes the package.

Great picture, clear, great in well lit room, huge upgrade compared to my plasma tv, sound was great, until I plugged the sound bar in and realized what I had been missing. Can't beat the configuration with the TV, soundbar and back speakers.

  • -

Can't get Alexa to workNeeds quick configurations for non HD video.

I looked at many TVs after all my kids got through college. We did some research to make sure we made a good decision on size too. The Bravia X900E is way better than we had hoped. B and H even shipped it to us in Eastern Washington for less that we could have purchased it for locally.

I was not in the market for a new TV until my LED-powered DLP started developing stuck mirrors. I am quite happy with my choice for a replacement TV.This is a great television for the price. Color is fantastic, and the black level, while not quite to OLED standards, is very good.

  • +

Colors, black level, calibration options, picture accuracy.

  • -

Android TV could be snappier; won't receive Dolby Vision update.
