A $1,300 soundbar doesn’t have much room for compromises. You can spend a fraction of that on a perfectly competent Vizio soundbar, and even premium options like the Sonos Arc cost hundreds less.

Fantastic sound as a standalone unit, Two HDMI 2.1 passthrough inputs, Wide support for codecs and third-party features

Doesn’t pass through VRR or ALLM, Adding subwoofer and rear surrounds gets wildly more expensive, No granular EQ adjustments
Sony's new flagship soundbar, HT-A7000, is packed with features that will provide perfect surround sound. But it costs!

The Sony HT-A7000 projects a large, clear and distinct sound picture, with a convincing surround effect. Plus for user-friendly on-screen menu!

Subwoofer is optional, which makes the total investment costly.
The Sony HT-A7000 can serve well as your only sound system for most situations. Sony’s HT-A7000 is a ringer of a soundbar, offering some of the very best virtual surround performance I’ve heard, a truckload of connectivity options and features, and a sweet and well-balanced soundstage.

“Great sound, ease of use, and a big list of features make it hard to beat.”
The Sony HT-A7000 sounds like a dream, but it's unattainably expensive for most people shopping for a soundbar

Size makes it a poor fit for smaller space, Incredibly expensive for the complete set
Immersive audio with added spatial processing
It’s been a while since Sony’s last flagship soundbar, and given the revolving door that sees new bars arrive each year, it feels well overdue for a successor. Like the previous model , the new flagship HT-A7000 can decode Dolby Atmos and DTS:X , but Sony is using a twinned approach to create height...

As an all-in-one solution, this soundbar is adept at delivering expansive and immersive sound quality from numerous sources. It'll put other standalone Dolby Atmos soundbars, such as the Sonos Arc, to task.

No VRR or ALLM at launch, EQ controls would be nice, Slightly confused styling
Sounds really good for a soundbar. I have it set up with the matching subwoofer and rear speakers, and a Sony TV which allows the TV speaker to mix with the soundbar. I tried it standalone and it sounded pretty good, but with the other speakers and TV it really comes to life.

Great Soundbar. Pair it with Sony XR-X95J tv. Can't go wrong with this one. Added the SA-SW5 subwoofers and SA-RS3S rear speakers and using the tv's speakers, all together makes for great movie watching. Feels like your there.
Sound is great! Especially the Dolby simulation surround it's amazing how this works. The hdmi 2.1 pass through is nice for future when I actually get my hands on a PS5 since my tv only has 1 2.1 hdmi port.
Really nice sounding unit, with tv or music over Blutooth. Highly recommended to go withe Sony XR series tv.
This fully featured all in one soundbar offers all the most useful features of a multi speaker home cinema set up. It sounds bright and full of detail with a subtle bass range, which suits a medium sized room without any need for an additional sub woofer.
Bought this after hearing the system at a friends house. Easy to set up and delivers a great sound which turns my television into a home cinema. Looks good and has easy to use controls.
While these are great speakers for movies, it lacks miss in a big way for music. There is no app to change base and treble so you can't adjust either. Unfortunately had to be returned.
I expected this to take a lot more effort than it did in order to set this up to achieve its full potential, as it turned out, it definitely did not. There are a few options that the system offers, in fact there's more than a few options, covering all connection methods and scenarios.
