Sony ECM-XYST1M Stereo Microphone

Purchased this for my A7 along with a Rode Video Compact Micro for my other DSLR. The stereo mic on this mic is definitely a noticeable difference between the two microphones, putting this one a step up. Also like the no-fuss connection for the multi-function shoe. . .

There are situations when the in-camera microphone is not directed properly to the subject sound and the microphone picks up extraneous sounds. The lens hood on many cameras further reduces the pickup of the source by hiding portions of the in camera mic.

Picked this up to use on my A6000 for both sermon messages and wedding shoots. It it very well made and provided a much high and clearer audio quality over the onboard microphone of the camera. Highly recommend this microphone for anyone who is wanting a boost in the sound of their A6000

I recommend investing in the Sony ECM-XYST1M to use to replace the internal mic because of the improved quality of the audio and the directional pickup brings out the sound that is directly in front of you. You will appreciate this when you do interviews.

I bought the Sony ECM-XYST1M Stereo mic to pick up ambient sound while recording video on my Sony a6300. I've only used it in exterior locations with the wind sock attached and have been very pleased so far.

My camera is a Sony Alpha II, which is a very good mirrorless dslr, that takes movies as well. Of course the built in mic is minimal. I tried it out for real at a house concert, with serious audio equipment, and an audience of about 50.

Can't say for 100% certain if the mic broke or if it's the hotshoe on my Sony A6000, but this spontaneously stopped working. Something was off from the start as the camera couldn't recognise the mic, but then it worked for a while.

All ok so far doesn’t cutout the wind completely, but helps

I bought this microphone to complete a Sony HDR-CX625 camcorder. As I could not find this little device in a shop in Belgium, I ordered it from LDLC. When you do a search on Google, their name comes up directly.

There is a lot of hype over this mic especially for bloggers and vloggers. the Sony hot shoe certainly gives you a tidy set up with no wires but i cant say the sound was fantastic, the sound was fine.
