Adding power zoom to a lens seems like a good idea, especially to capture the interest of video-centric camera users; the problem here is that serious professionals currently using the FS100 and FS700 cameras don't have the benefit of in-camera distortion correction (hopefully this will be addressed...
When I needed a lens to go with me when I travel light, it seemed the PZ 18-105 would be a perfect focal range...I was right. This thing hardly ever comes off the camera and the results are breathtaking. One of my passions is photographing animals in motion, especially butterflies.
The Sony 18-105mm f/4 is a great lens for the price. I love that the lens has power zoom that is internal. Great feature for using a gimbal! This lens is lightweight and looks very good on Sony E-mount cameras. This is a great lens for video...

This is an ideal travel lens. The range of 18-105mm allows for quick composition. I travelled through S.E. Asia with my a6000 and the two kit lenses: 18-50mm and 55-210mm, and while both are very good, I found myself having to interchange them more often than I would like.
A great addition to the a6000 camera. Really adds range over the kit lens. Use the clear image zoom for even more telephoto range.

OSS for video.Range is great for most occasions.Price is very affordable.

Size for a6000 body.Fly by wire focus.
I was unsure if I wanted to carry a bigger lens (than the 16-50mm) but once I got it I was surprised it was not very heavy and not as large as I assumed it would be. The range is great for a single lens solution and I am pleased with the additional contrast that the 16-50mmm just does not have.
This is a really good overall lens. Sharper than the kit lens and with the constant aperture throughout the entire zoom range. I also like it is an internal zoom, therefore it does not extend any longer than it is. The power zoom may be a feature you like if you shoot a lot of video.

Clearly SONY wanted a lens that would satisfy both still photographers and the ones shooting video. I my world, thats not possible in any way. That said, this is the best so far, and I have indeed been around! Not super fast, but there is NO ramping and on cameras like the FS7, just raise the ISO.
