The diminutive Sony FE 24mm F2.8 G lens captures a wide angle view and doesn't cut any corners when it comes to construction.

Slim, light build, Aluminum construction, Dust and splash protection, Aperture ring with silent option, On-lens function button, Quick, quiet autofocus

Shows some focus breathing, Skips anti-smudge protection, Controls are a little cramped
The Sony FE 24mm f2.8 G is an attractive mid-priced prime lens for anyone who enjoys wide-angle photography. The quality is sharp across the frame even at large apertures, the focusing quick and quiet and the lens well-featured with weather-sealing, a focus hold button and de-clickable aperture...
The Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G is a really nice lens to use, with some great features. Its size means that Sony A7 series cameras handle in a much lighter, less front-heavy way, and the aperture ring and it’s de-clicking switch make this lens great for both stills and video.

Very small and light, Smooth, silent AF, De-clickable aperture ring

Quite expensive for a 24mm f/2.8, Barrel distortion when uncorrected, Some edge softness
As I said at the beginning of this review, the Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G lens is a highly attractive, ultra-compact prime lens that features an extremely light weight and a rugged metal exterior construction.
We found several flaws as well; if you add them to the price, amounting to 700 Euro, you'll understand why the lens might be not as popular on the market as the Sony company would wish it to be. I think that, for example, few owners of 24-70 mm or 24-105 mm lenses will ever consider such a purchase.

solid, weather-sealed mechanical construction,, very good image quality in the frame centre,, sensible image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor,, very good correction of longitudinal chromatic aberration,, slight astigmatism,, moderate vignetting on the APS-C sensor,, excellent performance...

some problems with lateral chromatic aberration,, high vignetting on full frame,, huge distortion on RAW files,, exorbitant price.
I have been very pleased with my new Sony lens. The autofocus is quick and smooth. Pictures are crisp and sharp. The size of the lens is also good. It is nice and compact and fits in my bag with my other equipment.
This is my first, non G-Master lens from Sony. I was thrilled to try out the lens and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing picture quality from such a small lens! It is the perfect lens for capturing images on the go.
A great mid-range lens is what Sony has come out with in the 24mm G series. This is not only a good midrange for quality but also for the price. Without going into the technical details let me explain my experience in a simple way.
I have always loved taking pictures but i always settled for cheap cameras because it was just a hobby and I did not think it was worth the investment to dish out so much money for something i may lose interest in, but i finally decided to take the plunge for a new Sony lens and I am so glad I did.
I was so excited to add a full frame 24mm prime to my collection! I've been using a different prime 24mm that wasn't full frame, which was very limiting and hardly actually a wide lens once the crop was on. This lens doesn't disappoint!
Although small / lightweight, this lens is solidly built and features great manual controls (aperture ring, focus ring, etc.). The body seems rock solid and it is a fun and easy lens to use for everyday photography.
Light and small size. Nice to have. Good street snapshot
This lens is good for photo and video and compact size. In the future we hope to get better with f1.4
I bought this and other primes to add to my collection of primes and zooms!
