The Sony E 50mm f/1.8 OSS is a more than welcome addition to the (rather slim) Sony NEX lens lineup. Technically it is not without flaws. It delivers a very sharp center performance but the corners/borders are soft at large apertures. However, considering the typical applications (e.g.
I had to return the lens and paid for shipping. Used it with A7s, the auto focus is horrible. It just breathing back and forth especially when the object three feet or less.It does not matter what the setting of your camera. My APS Sony 16-50 is performing far much better.
I'm new to this type of lens, but it is awesome for outdoor shots, specifically when taking "targeted" shots. It is easy to adjust the BOCA for professional looking photos. The lens works great in all light conditions.

Manual Focus Not The Best
You can't beat this prime lens - creamy bokeh and sharp subjects, its the all-around can't-miss lens you've been looking for. Lightning quick autofocus, tank-like bulid... this lens absolutely has it all.

Slightly more expensive than Canon and Nikon's offerings with the same specs...
Very fast focus during indoor/low light settings (esp. compared to 18-55mm kit lens.) F/1.8 allows quicker shutter speeds, decreasing motion blur during live events, such as concerts. It is slightly heavier than 18-55mm kit lens, but worth carrying for specific shoots.

I read reviews explaining this was a great lens, but I was now prepared for how great. I've had it for 4 months, and it is a dream to work with. The images look great even wide open, and I love the bokeh effect.
