At first I was a little concerned about the size of the Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS lens, worrying that it would dwarf the Alpha 7R. However, while it certainly is not the smallest of lenses, it pairs well with the Alpha 7 cameras, offering a good compromise between size, weight and portability.

Specification Every full frame system offers a 70-200mm (or thereabouts) lens, usually f/2.8. These are, however, quite large and heavy and one of the perceived advantages of the Sony Alpha 7 system is its compact nature.

The Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS is an excellent telephoto zoom lens for Sony's full-frame compact system cameras. It delivers outstanding sharpness in the centre of the frame almost throughout its entire aperture and zoom range, even performing well wide-open at f/4, although you'll need to stop down...

Overall image quality isn't quite as good as from most competing lenses on test, which is disappointing considering the price.

I am a professional photographer in transition from Nikon to Sony. I still use my Nikon equipment on certain things but I use the Sony on the majority of my shoots.If you have a Sony E-mount full frame camera ( I have the Sony A7RII) then this is the lens for you.

Great lens for capturing anything from outdoor events to indoor long distance shooting.

Great IQ and build quality.

The screws that hold the bayonet on (and therefore support the weight of the lens) connect to the main frame through tiny plastic sleeves. Not a robust design at all.Also there's a cyan cast that I don't care for.
