Replaced a New Pioneer Receiver that failed in just one month. This unit for most movies only needs to be turned up to 25-30% volume to be very loud with a 5.1 speaker setup with 2 towers up front.

This is a price-based review. At the price, this is a great amp for your home theater. Good sound, plenty of ports and features, and not bad looking either. Integration with other Sony products is easy and effective. If you are a hardcore audiophile, you might hate this.
sometime when i use this receiver it has this protector sign and stop playing for no reason, when i read the instructions can't find what is the reason.
Worked Great.... for a month. Really like the on screen programing, and anything attached via HDMI powers up the unit when turned on. cool feature! The video and sound quality was excellent when it worked. 4K compatible! Sadly the HDMI video out stopped working one day, no reason or warning.
This is a very nice system. Having several HDMI "in" ports lets me quickly switch between DVD, Roky, Satellite etc. Sound is great and setup is amazing and simple.
Let me start by saying, I have two Sony str systems My main one is the str-dn1040 I purchased that unit for the video processing & duel HDMI output. But The STR-DH540 sounds Crystal Clear, And the HDMI pass, Is super Clear, lm starting like the STR-DH540 over the STR-DN1040.
My hdmi don't work
this is a long lasting receiver, still good buy has 4k but no HDR, this an older model
Very nice as it has HDMO inputs which keeps volume control consistent among various devices.
At first it worked great - have it set up with speakers, a TiVo, Sonos, Mac Mini, and PS4. It was easy to switch between everything and the quality was great. Then the SAT/CATV port gave out. Ok fine, I can plug the TiVo into another port and reconfigure my universal remote.
