We had the overpriced, over-complicated front loading Frigidaire washer. Old washer smelled like a swamp, was made out of brittle plastic that continually broke under normal use. Been using the Speed Queen for 6 months now. Absolutely perfect. Fast, gentle on clothes, no smell.
After months of research, it was great to finally discover this Speed Queen top loading washer that was actually very favorably reviewed! After three days (and washing just about everything in the house!) I am pleased to report that it does not disappoint.
Did not want a front loader with the odor problems. Everything about the Speed Queen has meant my expectations. Replaced a 20 plus year old Maytag with another machine that I hated from the first load. Didn't believe there would be much difference between top loading machines, I was so wrong.
Speed Queen AWN432 I wanted a washer that actually clean clothes and is gentle on them at the same time. Our water is hard and the fancy front loaders that are so "green" cannot get the clothes clean. On the advice from a friend I purchased this machine.
Replaced my 19 yo Maytag washer with a Speed Queen based on my research of reviews, and using one in a local laundromat. It works perfectly, quieter than my old Maytag, and I can adjust the water level, and throw in a forgotten piece of clothing. Clothes come out perfect. Made in the U.S.A.
I was online at the big box store that rhymes with Lostco needing to replace my washing machine and dryer, and settled on the Whirlpool Cabrio. They're expensive, but the machines looked downright glamorous, shiny and ultra modern.
About us: five kids and a ton of laundry. Our experience with our HE front loader:, it made all our cloths smell like mold (yes after using the clean cycle and a ton of bleach), ate all kinds of items like green plastic army men, matchbox helicopter, bracelets, etc which destroyed the pump.
Best washer I have owned since the 80's. A good old fashion washer that actually fills with water and has manual controls. Recently had a front load HE and hated it. The Speed Queen washes twice as much for the same size machine, so there is no water or energy savings with the HE.
Replacing a hunk of Kenmore junk that was purchased in '06 with this in Oct.'12.. Although the Kenmore only needed 2 repairs during this time the main complaints was it's inability to get clothes clean and the moldy smell that permeated the clothing as well.
We purchased this machine about six months ago to replace the 2.5 year old Kenmore top load HE that was on it's fourth service call. The last call was because the mother board was fried.
