I use it for observing wildlife and digiscoping. I have used 2 diamondbacks, 2 vipers and 1 razor and I prefer the Viper 15-45-65 over the others.
This is such an improvement over my old scope that it is hard to be objective. Great clarity at near and long distance. Good light transfer. Has already stood up in a great fashion to some tough use/abuse. Focus knobs focus quickly and sharply. See-through case is a challenge to put on.
I recently used this spotting scope on an antelope hunt in Southern Alberta and it met my expectations. It saves a lot of steps when you can take a close up look at an animal without needing to hike closer.
I bought this scope primarily for birding, and am very happy with it. I hesitated about buying the 65mm objective scope as opposed to the 80mm, but find it entirely adequate for my needs.
Great deal fat shipping I love it
This spotting scope is very clear, 223 target hits at 200 yds visible. Worth spending extra for hd lenses.
The scope is primarily used for birding. It replaces a 60mm scope that is 27-28 years old! The Viper is really bright and is GREAT at zoom! The zoomed subject really holds the focus well without distortion. We stared at a Calico Pennant (dragonfly) laying eggs at least 50 yards away!
I have used the scope long enough to realize it is just ok and really not much better than many scope that are way cheaper!!!!!
I am a professional wildlife biologist, post-secondary educator in applied fish and wildlife biology, avid birder/wildlife photographer, and hunter, so, needless to say, my use of this tool are diverse.
This scope has worked really well to see distant ducks!
