Yamaha NS-6490 Bookshelf Speaker (Pair)

In choosing a pair of bookshelf speakers to use as secondary speakers in second room, I chose the NS-6490s for three reasons: I've always liked Yamaha audio equipment, including three -way PA speakers, because it seems to have the most balance and "natural" sound.

For the money these speakers look and sound excellent. I am driving them with a Yamaha A-S501 amp, with a FiiO X3 HiRes music player as the audio source. They sound better on speaker stands than they do on a shelf.

I have used these speakers for just about a year. They are amazing. You can not go wrong with these speakers for 50 a pair. There is no comparison to anything else this price. The highs are very very crisp, and the bass is very punchy.

Crystal clear imaging, pair with a powered sub to get your bass. Acoustic suspension speakers a hard to find these days.

At this price point I don't think you'll find a better pair of speakers, especially not with 8 woofers and a 3-way configuration. To those saying there is not enough bass, I think the bass is fairly accurate. If there is a lot of bass in your track, you will hear it.

I wouldn't call these bookshelf speakers, they're a little big for that. I wouldn't call these floor speakers, they're a little small for that. I run them through a Yamaha receiver/amp. They sound pretty good .

Beautiful speaker with amazing clarity for the price. A bit on the large size for a bookshelf though.

I have an earlier version of these same speakers as my front surround, purchased over 20 years ago and still sounding great. This new pair sounds every bit as good.
