Being a guitarist for the better part of my life I’ve learned a few things about sound and the devices that produce it. Sometimes, a complex circuit can provide an amazing sound — like my Fryette CLX Tube head.
I have a Marantz 9.1 surround system but it only has one zone so I decided to add a receiver for my other zones. The Yamaha R-S700 is a quality stereo system for my back porch and pool areas plus it produces exceptional audio for the price.
Easy to use and the sound quality meets my needs
I recently acquired Bose 901 speakers and only a handful of receivers can accommodate them in a reasonable price range. Yamaha makes a fine product as this is my second Yamaha receiver over a span of 30 years.
Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
Natural sound perfect for listening to music, especially at this price point. Very nice sound stage allows the speakers to disappear. The radio reception could be better but I use a powered antenna so that's not a problem.
The basic requirement for building a stereo system...this machine is simple and elegant in it's simplicity...like Honda used to be. Easy set-up and easy to use. Love it.
Great upgrade from previous receiver. Has more than enough power to drive the Klipsch RP-280 speakers that it's paired with. clean balanced sound
FM antenna didn't fit right and reception was very poor. AM antenna was the same only worked and not well near unit. A real disappointment for the money.
poor FM and AM antenna's
Best of the Best! It's about time that someone finally got back to Audio!! Not Audio /Video. We Music lovers lost a lot over the years as Company's started gearing toward video and forgetting about Music. The new receivers most had no phono input, or most of the audio inputs we were use to.
This is analog all the way, every thing works if you let it!!
no video inputs or digital inputs these are cons for the other people not us music lovers
Great value for a 100 watt (20-20Khz) 2 channel stereo receiver. The pre-out main in feature is perfect to accommodate the equalizer for my Theil CS3.5 speakers. The ability to drive 4ohm speakers with low THD is impressive. I'm only using my IPhone to source Pandora and googled songs.
100 watts continuous 20-20khz into 4 ohms. Decent receiver. Pre out and Main in capability for bi-amp or active equalizer function. Tape out and record in function. Phono and CD pre-amp inputs a plus for conventional stereophiles. Low THD.
Lack of switched and unswitched power outlets is not an issue. Use a power strip instead.
Great receiver with great sound and had all the required hookups for my bose 901's.
Had all I needed in a receiver.
Front display light only comes on when you make a change and does not come on when you change from speaker A to B
This is wonderful receiver. It's got all of the old school inputs I needed such as phono and even tape. Now I can use my Akai 10" reel to reel deck again.
