As you would expect from any Zeiss product, the optical clarity of this spotting scope is very good. I use it at the rifle range for spotting my hits at 300 yards. I can easily see the holes even with some heat mirage going on. I had a similar vortex spotting scope, and this one is much better.

cant think of any, Heavier than, price, Light loss at high magnification
This is an extremely well made scope with very sharp optics and strong, yet elegant mechanical features. A joy to use.
The clarity of the images produced using this scope is truly astounding. Very clear and so much light comes through the scope that it is usable under all conditions that you would expect to see clearly. That’s not faint praise; TLDR is that it works like you expect and hope. Great spotting scope.

I studied all the high end scopes before making my choice, the Zeiss Conquest Gavia 85. It’s a bit cheaper than some comparable scopes from other manufacturers. The HD glass is sharp and clear. Almost no chromatic aberration, even at high magnification.

Good Points: Quick to focus, not too heavy.Improvement Points: Image not brilliantly sharp at60x.
There was no way to edit my review but if OpticsPlanet can add to the bottom I'd appreciate it.. Zeiss did return my email. Turns out their published weight does NOT include either of the caps, nor the built in plate where you add a tripod adapter.

I purchased this spotter for an ultralight DIY sheep hunting setup after plotting out several of the higher end spotters via objective diameter per weight. Zeiss claims to be 60.0 oz which would be the highest obj / wt ratio of its class. When I put it on the scale, it actually weighed 62.4 oz.

Good Points: Very impressive build quality. Early results highly satisfactory. Magnification control a little stiff, but may free up with use.Overall, an excellent scope at a realistic price.
Good Points: Great build quality, terrific optics - as you’d expect from Zeiss. Fully waterproof which is a huge benefit watching water birds on a rainy day. Good value for money.Improvement Points: Nothing. Thoroughly enjoying using it. Exactly as I expected from the reviews.
