The push-pull focus takes awhile to get used to, but this is a pretty good scope. I have two other scopes, both 8X (a Leica Monovid and a Minox Minoscope, which are both more solid than the Zeiss.) The Zeiss is the most compact of the three and the close focus is very nice.
This is a very well-made product, with about the best glass in its category. I like the wide range of available magnifications and objectives Zeiss offers. I take this everywhere now.
The optical quality is supreme. Zero complaints. Between the optical quality and the light weight nature of this monocular, it is perfect for what I need.
Firstly, today the Zeiss seems to be very expensive,BUT if you value of being able to see 100% then you want the best.In six months you will forget about the price, and you'll be pleased that you didn't buy something that looks similar at a 'Mickey mouse' type price.
Good Points: so easy to always cary with youpin-sharp bright opticsjust as good on walks as in an art galleryif you want just one optical device - this is itImprovement Points: a bit expensive - but you pay for what you get
Good Points: Fabulous piece of kit. Small and easily portable. Beautiful clarity. Bright and clear image right to the edges. Push-Pull focus. I bought this mainly for close-up viewing (bugs, flowers, etc) because I already have a Zeiss 10x. It turns out that for close-ups the magnification is 9x.
Awesome tool. I use it for checking stock on the farm. The clarity of the image is amazing and the size is perfect for carrying in you pocket. It isn't cheep but I expect this to provide exceptional service over a lift time. Very happy with the purchase.
Good Points: Small size and weight so can be carried in pocket every where you go. Very bright image and relatively low magnification - so no shaking - make it easy to see much more detail than on my x 8 binoculars.Improvement Points: Needs time to get used to slide focus action.
Good Points: Light, compact, easy everyday carryImprovement Points: None
This monocular is just as advertised the close focus down to 30cm (one foot) is excellent, sharp and bright. It's clearly optimized for close focus as the view of distant objects is not quite as good. While excellent in the center of the field, the view rapidly becomes less sharp toward the edges.
