The P420 is a multi-pattern large diaphragm true condenser microphone for demanding project studio recording applications. Offering high sensitivity and 155dB maximum SPL, the P420 delivers a warm, transparent sound quality perfectly suited for ensemble recording, grand piano, woodwind and brass...
I got a pair for overhead, room, whatever. Used it on female alto and it captured everything perfectly. Very balanced and useable.
Great microphone for the price, the added polar patterns makes this mic very versatile. The mic and shock mount also have a great high quality feel. AKG does not disappoint, trusted and tested.

Durable, Excellent Craftsmanship, Great Intonation
The mic has a warm sound when recording a string quartet. The musicians are very happy with the sound the mic produces. It is nice to have the choice of different pickup patterns.
AKG Perception 420 is great all arounder. With great range of options, this is must have mic for any budget project studio. It is condenser microphone with large capsule, capable of omni, cardioid and figure of eight characteristics.
I bought this mic two days ago and I started using right away. The sound is clear and great, I was expecting less from it. It is built on a firm material and so is the shock mouth. I used it with the Scarlett 2i4 second generation interface and the sound is absolutely amazing.
I'm a novice when it comes to recording so I'm obviously still in the learning process but I really like this microphone. I record vocals and guitar and it's very clear.

Durable, Excellent Craftsmanship, Great Intonation, Great Sound, Highly Responsive
I have used the perception series mics for years - mostly the 420. This mic provides everything I need in a project studio setting - great sound, build quality, all at a very resonable price point.
I use this mic to record vocals and a few live sounds. It's got amazing clarity and sensitivity. Also the on-body presetting switches allow for a little extra input control with a lot more sound range on the output end.
High quality mic. I moved around to get the quality I wanted. I only found it in Sam Ash . At a very affordable price.
I needed a Mic for recording instruments and vocals and this does the job very well!!
