The new ATH-M50x has the same sound as the previous version, but with a few added features.

Fantastic sound. Made for music production, but also great for critical listening. If you're seated and working, they're comfortable enough to wear all day. New version of these classic cans now features three detachable cables: one long, one short, and one coiled.

-
No in-line remote or phone controls on the cables. Even with the new mobile-friendly short cable, the big and bulky over-the-ear design isn't entirely mobile-friendly. They fold, but not much, so they're tough to travel with. Probably too heavy for walking around town.
If you're looking for an all-around solid pair of headphones you can use whether you're editing videos or listening to music on the bus, these should be on your shortlist.

Cord is proprietary, Soundstage is lacking
Great for neutral listening. The Audio-Technica M50X offer a well-balanced audio reproduction with the right amount of bass. They have decently balanced mid-range that reproduces the instruments and vocal accurately, and their treble doesn't sound too sharp or recessed.
The sturdy studio headphones from Audio-Technica has loyal followers all over the world and has survived all manner of fads and increasingly fierce competition. One

This is probably the coolest of all the accessories and upgrades you can make to your ATH-M50x headphone. Dbrand mostly makes skins for mobile phones but the Audio Technica ATH-M50x is so popular that they made a template for it. Get your headphone decked out in several optional colors.
Quibbles aside, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones are a modestly improved version of the already spectacular model they're based on, and among the best-sounding pairs you'll find for less than $200.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones offer excellent build quality and very detailed, balanced sound with tight bass. They're also very comfortable and have slightly more cushiony earcups along with a detachable-cord design (three cords are included).

There's no integrated microphone for making cell phone calls and the bulkier design makes them less suitable for mobile use.
Great news! Audio- Technica has recently introduced its revamped line of studio-grade and very much professional over-ear headphones. One of them being a new mid-level flagship successor to one of the more well known and admired headphones in recent years - the ATH -M50 .
Interchangeable cables – detachable 1.2m – 3.0m (3.9’ – 9.8’) coiled cable, detachable 3.0m (9.8’) straight cable, and detachable 1.2m (3.9’)
Just received my headphones. I first listened to Peter Gabriel So on my iPhone connected to my Chord Mojo DAC. It had great low end but a bit soft on high frequencies. I'll give it some time to break in and expecting overall sound to improve.

Great low end. Tight bass

Not much high frequency but will let it break in.
These headphones are incredible! Great sound is one thing, but comfort is key and I wear these for hours at a time playing drums! Price was good for what I got, wish there was a hard case for travel but it came with a tough(ish) leather bag.
My first product review, I highly recommend these for any type of music listening on your laptop, iPhone, Andriod, etc. They truly are great. For my first pair of real quality headphones, I hit the jackpot!
The ATHM50 were easily the best all round headphones now with the X even better. The sound the fit is perfect. I much prefer these over my open back reference headphones.
I have spent a long time looking for a pair of headphones that I could use on the road for mixing and mastering tracks, as I'm an audio engineer who travels quite a bit and it's extremely inconvenient to only be able to work at home on monitors.
Sounds good, great for tv listening, well made and very comfortable
I love the comfort and sound quality of these cans! I also have Sennheiser Momentums and Klipscsh M-40 (now discontinued) and these sound as good as the Sennhiesers or Klipsch, but more comfortable in my opinion.
I really love these headphones! They have great highs, nice deep base and excellent mid range. I'm also very impressed with the imaging and the spaciousness between vocals and instruments. I highly recommend these headphones.
