Audio-Technica is, at least within the DJ community, world-famous for their ATH-M50x, and the ATH-MSR7 we review here was originally supposed to be the successor to the

Audio-Technica's ATH-MSR7 SonicPro High-Resolution Over-Ear Headphones ($250) claim to produce "Hi-Res Audio, allowing users to hear music the way it was intended." The headphones pack 45mm "True Motion Drivers," lightweight voice coils, and a diaphragm...
With the redesigned ATH-MSR7b, Audio-Technica eliminates the aesthetic “flaws” of its predecessor. Above all, the sound image has been refreshed, making it the top model in its price class among all headphone disciplines.
Overall, I am very impressed with what the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 offers for its price. While $250 is not cheap, you could pay more and not get the build quality and performance of the ATH-MSR7.
I remember listening to the Audio Technica MSR7 when it first came out – three years ago. But the headphone game has changed dramatically since 2015, and now the new Audio Technica ATH-MSR7B sits on my desk, waiting for a review.
Audio Technica has genuinely knocked it out of the park with their latest portable, circumaural, closed-back dynamic headphone. The ATH-MSR7 is a stylish and comfortable design with solid build quality and a refined sound approaching that of higher-end reference quality open-back monitors, and all...
With their sleek design and great sounding audio, the ATH-MSR7s have it all

High price
I have been a fan of Audio Technica headphones for years now. I always appreciated their level of aesthetic detail, especially for the price. However, the Audio Technica ATH-SR9 takes a step up in price and I’m curious. Is it worth the extra $200?
Hot on the heels of the ATH-M50xBT wireless headphone (HFC 450) comes Audio-Technica’s ATH-MSR7b wired design. Rather than being a completely new model, it is a refresh of the original MSR7 that we saw back in HFC 398.
The Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7bs come from great stock. They succeed a pair of headphones that have been a high watermark for affordable wired listening for a number of years now and early indicators are that they improve on them in a variety of ways.

Incredibly comfortable, Light, Great sounding

Wires will put some off, No wireless option, Pricier than the cans they replace
First of all, it is to be mentioned I am not familiar with the old MSR7, so I cannot do a comparison with that.

Very clean sound, can handle high SPL without distorsion, sounds very good without EQ, High Resolution, High Detail, Source Revealing, Lightweight, Very good comfort, Excellent detail, clarity, imaging and good soundstage, Great near-reference-quality sound, but with a bit more bass presence and...

Plasticky cheap feeling, creaks every time you put them on your head, cable is microphonic, Bass texture a hair too smooth and rounded, would prefer harder edges and slam, I feel the bass is a bit lacking in presence or forwardness, Build quality.
These are my first high-res cans. I've always been into quality music but never really stepped into it. I have paired these with an iFi hip dac2 using the balanced connector and have begun purchasing songs in .FLAC format as MQA streaming isn't cutting it anymore.

I wish the balanced cable was longer. Not a true con but my cranium and ears are just big enough that comfort isn't a "five" for me.
It might seem a lot of money, yet these ATH-MSR7 are well worth it. I tried the Audio Technica ATH-M50x and the ATH-M70x models, they are good, this one is much smoother and an elegant design. They are quite cushy and a little tighter on the head than some.
The Audio Technica ATH-MSR7b absolutely fits my wants, and maybe yours. The three benefits I wanted were excellent music, protection from sound leakage that would annoy my partner in a small house, and reasonable comfort. These headphones provide all three.

Excellent sound, little or no sound leakage, reasonable comfort on a large head, capacious earcups fit large ears well.

No drawback that I have experienced, but might lack some feature you think crucial (ANC, Bluetooth).
I call these headphones, "The Truth"! They are very precise and detailed! These are the best headphones I've ever owned for critical listening! Very Nice!
These headphones are comfortable and look very nice. if you are looking for headphones for playing video games or if you like listening to soft or medium volume music they might be for you. if you are an audiophile who likes heavy metal-hard rock at loud volumes then they probably aren't for you.

Nice headphones. Good overall sound quality. Somewhat sibilant. Can be corrected with eq.

Somewhat sibilant.
For a reasonable price, these headphones deliver high quality listening. Excellent clarity of bass and treble, and a beautiful separation of vocals and instruments. The ear cups fit snugly reducing most ambient sound, without being uncomfortable.
After just 1 hour of listening, I am very impressed with the sound quality. I paired the ATs with an externally powered iFi Zen DACv2. These are awesome headphones. I've never had a super good set to compare but very very clean sound and the DAC is really just perfect for laptop listening.

Well made. Lightweight. Comfortable. Great value. Handles some power.

Not finding any really other than possibly the short wiring. Perfect at a desk, and I wouldn't want too much to tangle.
From the start these performed better than my current headphones from Sony so I'm already satisfied. The sound is already rich and crisp, and I'm sure they will be even better once they break in for a while.
