The EOS R50 is an ultra-compact mirrorless camera with good photo quality and an impressive autofocus system. Its 4K video quality is decent, though it gets distorted easily if you pan the camera, and you can't take a lot of shots in a row.

Canon’s entry-level mirrorless camera offers a seriously impressive list of specs, considering its roughly $800 price tag. And that includes the standard 18-45mm kit lens. The 24.2-megapixel resolution is tried-and-true as it was the standard for several years before resolutions started to shoot up.

While our Canon EOS R50 review is still underway, it boasts an impressive set of features in an incredibly small body, with a very reasonable price tag. It looks like it could be primed to reset the entire market for what’s expected in an entry-level camera.
The Canon EOS R50 is great for travel photography. It's a very lightweight and portable camera that's easy to travel with and take on the go. It also has simple controls and plenty of auto-shooting modes, making it a great choice for beginners or those upgrading from their smartphones.

Canon is promoting the EOS R50 as a traveller’s camera and ‘the perfect gateway into the EOS R range for content creators looking to step up from their smartphone and refine their style, in both stills and video, using a dedicated camera’.
If you’re looking for a camera to use as a stepping stone for improving your photography, this compact little camera from Canon could be just the ticket. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles as many other models, but it would be great for raising your game from phone photography.
