Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens

Photographers who have invested more than AU$3000 in the EOS R body will naturally expect a lens that can match it. Fortunately, the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM can do that – especially around the centre of the frame – with most focal length settings once the lens has been stopped down a little.

I think that the Canon RF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM is a great lens. Considering that this used to be my bread and butter lens for years when I was a DSLR owner, I’m pleasantly content with the latest version. It’s almost impossible to get a blurry shot due to camera shake.

The RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens features Canon's Air Sphere Coating (ASC), which significantly reduces the occurrence of lens flare and ghosting regardless of focal length or the angle of light. This helps provide clean results with minimal distractions and aberrations.

At a point in my equipment refresh, I was about to upgrade my EF 24-105L Mk1 to Mk2, ditto 100-400L while going from 5D Mk3 to Mk4. The R system announcement made me pause, and I have acquired this lens and an RP body with EF converter to gauge the potential both for mirrorless and for the new...

This lens is very nice and produces and very crisp and clear image, photo or video. The one prob I found with this lens is the IS, Image stabilization. It works well hand held, but when it is on a tripod, and with IS on, the image will shift at the end of a pan. Turn it off, no image shift.

Tested it in a wildlife refuge and found it to be extremely sharp. First pics drew compliments from Facebook friends.

This is the perfect daily use lens for the EOS R system. Its a jack of all trades, master of none, its not terribly fast at f/4, but for daytime shooting and some studio work its fantastic for a standard telephoto.

I would say its every bit as useful as the RF 24-105L for the DSLRs, but is smaller/lighter and the image stabilization, when used with the EOS-R, is spectacular. I was able to hand hold a 2 second shot with minimal motion artifact; looked better than the same shot at a much higher ISO for the same...

This is a sharp, excellent walk around lens for the Canon R. I still havent made use of all its options, and look forward to years of use.
