The Canon RF 28-70mm f2L USM is a general-purpose zoom for Canon’s EOS R full-frame mirrorless system boasting an industry-leading f2 focal ratio. It may miss out on the wider 24mm coverage of typical 24-70mm f2.8 zooms, but uniquely boasts an extra stop of aperture.
The Canon RF 28-70mm F2 L USM Lens is a large, heavy and expensive lens that is also awesome. Garnering a world's first on its credit list, this lens brings the f/2 aperture to the extremely useful standard zoom lens.
It’s a fabulous lens that really can rival three or four separate prime lenses. Apart from lackluster corner-sharpness at 28mm, image quality is spectacular in all other respects.

Big, heavy and expensive, No tripod collar, No image stabilization
Any arguments against the Canon 28-70mm f2 L USM in regards to image stabilization are ones I find almost pedantic. But with regard to the large size, I totally relate.
The RF 28–70mm F2 L USM lens features Canon's Air Sphere Coating (ASC), which significantly reduces the occurrence of lens flare and ghosting regardless of focal length or the angle of light. This helps provide clean results with minimal distractions and aberrations.
There's no getting away from the fact that the new Canon RF 28-70mm f/2 L USM lens is very big, heavy and expensive, but there's also no getting away from the fact that it's extremely well-built, fast in terms of the maximum aperture, and capable of delivering superlative image quality.
One of the finest lenses that I have ever held in my hand. It is exciting to think that this is the future. I am not a Canon devotee. I shoot Nikon, Olympus, and previously Sony. I purchased the EOS R so that I could try the Canon RF lenses and I think that they are spectacular.
Best lens ever! Unreal! Can’t wait to put it on a pro body! Crazy good lens!
I rented this to shoot a wedding. I never took the lens off my camera for 9 hours except for macro ring shots. I usually shoot with a 24-70 f2.8, 35mm and 85mm mostly for weddings. The bokeh this lens produces is so incredible that I didnt feel the need to use my 85mm at all which I normally use for...
This has quickly become my go to lens. Lots of versatility with excellent low light options.
Canon really went for the jugular in terms of performance on this lens. If you want great portraits or even nice rich Boka this lens has it all. I like the fact its like owning several prime lenses in one. Great job Canon, excited to see what new RF lenses are on coming out soon.
Really amazing lens. Feels like you are having primes from 28-70. Sharp, Vercitile, Beautiful. Amazing in low light. Definitely Recommend.
Slick and smooth operation. Super sharp. Not that heavy. I was expecting worse.
Had the lens for 3 months now and it’s amazing. I use it in the studio and the shots I’m getting are excellent. I love this lens.
Have sold my lens collection and bought the RF F2 in February. So instead of carrying body and 24-105 + 35 1.8 + 85 1.8, I carry exactly one lens and I am happier.I live in Northern Europe, low light is an issue even during most daylight hours, let alone indoors.
I bought this lens a couple of week ago, mainly for portraiture work. The first thing you notice is the size, this lens is a beast in the hand. Saying that you can feel the build quality, which is what you would expect from an L series lens.
