With the ability to track your sleep in addition to all of the voice control capacity of the original, the second-generation Nest Hub smart display is an ideal bedside companion for Google Assistant users.
-
+
Tracks sleep and breathing, Intuitive interface, Excellent smart home controls, Google Assistant responds quickly, Compact design
-
-
Might attribute co-sleeper's coughing/snoring to you, No camera for video calls
Google released the original Nest Hub (née Home Hub) in 2018, and we liked it even at $150. That price came down substantially, giving more people a chance to try out what was arguably the best Assistant smart display.

DisplayThe resolution isn't the highest, but this screen gets dim enough for use in a bedroom, and Ambient EQ makes it blend in very well., Performance boostThe new Hub is faster, exhibiting fewer slowdowns in the UI than the OG device.

Sleep Sensing againGoogle has yet to provide me with any suggestions beyond common sense—it needs to do more before Google can charge for it. Medium and large pets will interfere with your tracking if they get on your bed, too.
Here’s the thing about the new $99.99 Nest Hub from Google: it is slow. Compared to almost any other touchscreen device you might own or interact with, the Nest Hub is laggy, sluggish to respond, and has stuttering animations all over the place.
-
+
Sleep tracking is easy and reliable, The speaker is better sounding than before, Still an excellent Google Photos digital photo frame
-
-
It’s slow, Can’t use the Thread radio or temperature sensor for smart home routines, Did I mention it’s slow?
“The Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) offers accurate sleeping tracking without the discomfort of a wearable thanks to its Sleep Sensing feature.”
Google Nest Hub is a control panel for your smart home. Now also with sleep sensor and (slightly) better sound.
-
+
Perfect as a dashboard for Google Home.
-
-
Navigation is not easy on the small screen. The sound is still in clock radio quality. More apps would make it far more useful.
The smartest display for the bedroom, but it can't stop my husband snoring
-
+
Elegant design, Device-free sleep tracking, Handy gesture controls, No camera, Great price, Thread-enabled
-
-
Sleep Sensing won't stay free, Screen too small for some, No camera, Touch screen can be sluggish
The new Nest Hub has all of the great things that we fell in love with in the first generation, including the digital picture frame, controls for smart homes, access to cameras and doorbells, and more.
Does a cheaper price tag, better audio, and sleep tracking make this a better buy than the original? You bet....
Two-and-a-half years later , the Nest Home Hub remains one of my favorite smart screens on the market. Maybe that’s a commentary on the rate of improvement in the category, or maybe Google just got things pretty right the first time out.
Ultimately, the new Nest Hub is an improved version of the original with one notable new feature. While Sleep Sensing is technologically impressive and could be useful for some, a potential fee would be hard to swallow.
Delighted with my purchase! Relatively easy to set up (guided by YouTube!), and the Nest has been a valuable assistant in the kitchen (recipes shown on the screen). The second Nest is in the bedroom and has some neat clock & slide show features. I recommend!
Love the google products! It doesn’t have a camera but for 99.00 what do you expect. Works great! Love how you can turn off the alarm by waving your hand. Love how it detects my sleep! Way better than Alexa. I own 4 and love them all!!
I am able to control and view multiple aspects of my smart connected home. It even puts out a decent sound for it's size.

Small footprint, Ease of use.
Wasn't sure about these but now that we've had them for a few weeks, we are loving them. The sound is better than the regular Google Home device too.
This is so convenient. We use this everyday for everything from home controls, to getting recipes, watching youtube videos etc. So easy to use
Came quickly, looks good, sounds good. Not yet fully utilized, but seems to be intuitive.
Bought it mainly to work with the Google Nest Doorbell - works flawlessly.
Bought for my granddaughter ..she has been over the moon with this grest pice of technology
I bought this product to help me listen to my favourite music and to control gadgets around the home and is brilliant.

The quality of sound and image are very good. The compatibility to connect a lot of other (non-google) smart devices
-
