The Nikon company has lately swamped us with new roof prism binoculars. After launching the top-of-the-range EDG series they added Sporter EX, Prostaff 5, Prostaff 7, Monarch 5 and Monarch 7 as well.

handy casing,, huge field of view,, good transmission,, well-corrected chromatic aberration,, moderate astigmatism,, sensibly corrected distortion,, good whiteness rendering,, high quality of prisms and coatings,, clean and black inside the tubes.

too high coma,, the casing made a bit carelessly,, slightly egg-shaped exit pupils.
I have an older pair of Nikon monarch binos 10 x 42, which I liked. But this new Monarch 7 has a wider field of view, a little more clarity, quick center focus knob. I have a pair of Monarch ATB 8 x 30, which are really nice and light and great sharpness of focus, but needed a little more...
I could not be happier with this pair of binoculars: quality of the glass, magnification, ease of use, adjustments for those who wear glasses, etc. Well worth the investment to see birds with this precision and sharpness. Would definitely recommend.
Very good optics. Sharp across the frame. Focusing for the first time on right ocular was extremely stiff. With repeated use, focusing is less difficult. Focus ring is still difficult to turn but seems to have improved with repeated use.
These scopes are light and comfortable, made for sight-seeing, sport events, bird watching, concerts, cruises and practically anything that requires long distance vision. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for their first pair.
I compared these binoculars to a less expensive pair of Leopold binocs in full daylight and was a little disappointed. They were very similar in clarity and brightness. And then I tried them at dusk, 30-40 minutes after sundown and there was no comparison.

Light-gathering ability very good in poor visibility, optics very clear, focusing wheel extremely light and easy to the touch and the body is lightweight for a 8x42. Excellent.
Perfect for birdwatching. Not too heavy and easy to grip. I would definitely buy these again.
Tbese binoculars are so wonderful. Extremely clear
