The Nikon Nikkor Z 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 VR S brings far-off subjects into close view, supports teleconverters, and works well for macro subjects. It's a big lens to carry, but you won't quibble with its results.

Tripod foot doesn't work with Arca-Swiss mounts, Teleconverter use requires ample light, Pricey
I have been looking forward to the 100mm-400mm lens since Nikon included it on the Z lens map, as I enjoy shooting wildlife and birds in flight.

The Nikkor Z 100mm-400mm f4.5-5.6 lens is a nice addition to the Z mount line, as it provides a good amount of versatility for everyday...
I've been waiting a long time for Nikon to come out with a Z mount telephoto zoom. The cold weather in the Northeast has kept me from doing too much outdoor or sport shooting. I've tried it out with the birds in my backyard, and some closeups of our orchid collection.
So far, this lens has exceeded my expectations. I primarily use it with a 2X teleconverter to shoot birds. While never a fan of teleconverters, the Z system changed that. I cannot believe how sharp the images are when using the teleconverter.
I purchased a 200-500 several months ago for bird photography. I found that lens to be pretty unwieldy. I longed for the Z 100-400 to be available as a lightweight companion to my Z50 travel camera. The lens is everything I hoped for..
Just getting started with the lens but very happy so far. Took some shots of 3 seals on a large rock that was more than 100 yards off shore. When I cropped the photo to zoom in closer, you can see their whiskers!!

Very sharp better than my Nikon 180-400 F 4
I've been waiting for this lens since I got my Z7II at Christmas 2020. Absolutely phenomenal sharpness in the few pictures I have taken. Also got the 2X converter. What an awesome combination. Not too heavy, yet the quality is undeniable. Nikon has hit this one out of the park.
I’m really impressed with the build and optical quality of this lens. Used with my Z7 II for mostly nature photography and I am pleased with the purchase so far.
A perfect lens. Using it now on a Z 6II. Might get a Z 9 but can't even pre order that. A good range and design. I will also get a 1.4 TC when I can afford it! I own DSLR Nikons with great lens and the FTZ, but I have never used the FTZ.
