Nikon Z MC 105mm F2.8 VR S is an Auto Focus (AF) Macro Prime lens with 35mm FF max sensor coverage and it is designed to be used with Nikon Z mount cameras. Nikon Z MC 105mm F2.8 VR S is a member of Nikon's S-Line series of lenses. Below you can see the latest lenses in this series.

+
Image Stabilization, Weather Sealed, Built-in Autofocus, Full-time Manual Focusing, Focus Distance Limiter, Covers Full-Frame Sensor, High Max Magnification ratio of, 1x
The Nikon Nikkor Z MC 105mm F2.8 VR S is an exceptionally sharp macro lens, with the added benefit of optical stabilization for better handheld results.
-
+
Outstanding resolution, Focuses close for 1:1 magnification, Very effective stabilization, Dust, splash, and fluorine protection, On-lens digital display
-
-
Autofocus on the slow side, Focus breathing behavior limits potential for video work, Control ring is very sensitive
We had to wait quite a while for a native Z-mount Nikon macro lens, and then two came along at once. The 105mm f/2.8 VR is the more advanced (and more expensive) of the two, but it provides stunning results for lovers of close-up photography.
-
+
In-built stabilization, Excellent bokeh, Advanced coatings
-
-
Somewhat large and bulky
Nikon has filled a gap in its Z lens line-up and introduced two macro lenses. Angela Nicholson puts the pro-level MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S lens through its paces.
-
+
Weather-sealed, Vibration Reduction (VR), Large focus ring with manual override, Excellent sharpness, Focus limiter
-
-
Unusually small apertures available lead to diffraction
The Nikon Z-series lens line-up now has two macro lenses and they’re both very good, but the Nikkor Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S has a few refinements that make it worth the extra money over the Nikkor Z MC 50mm f/2.8.
-
+
1:1 Magnification, VR Image Stabilization, OLED Lens Information Panel
-
-
Aperture range varies with focus distance, About 1.5x the price of the Nikon Nikkor Z MC 50mm f/2.8
Nikon's Z MC 105mm f2.8 VR S is a very good macro lens which also doubles up as a light telephoto. It produces very sharp images with almost no field-curvature or colour aberrations and can confidently be used wide open and in challenging contra-light situations.
The Z series of lenses continues to offer extraordinary optics and in this case at least, with a reasonable price tag to go with it. The 105mm focal length is versatile and covers a multitude of subjects and is well established as a firm favourite in macro lenses.
-
+
Outstanding sharpness, Very low CA, Low distortion, No flare, Beautiful bokeh, Weather resistance, High construction standards, OLED display, Customisable control functions, Excellent ergonomics, Virtually silent, fast AF
-
+
Great quality and good controls
another excellent Z lens. Bought mainly to use as a short out and about telephoto lens.

I've been using the earlier AF-S 105mm micro for years and it's been my favourite lens. This new Z 105mm macro so far appears to be an improvement in every way. Sharp with nice soft backgrounds, reliable focus, lightweight, well made and the function button is a handy addition.

-
À bit on the large size. Would be nice if it was compatible with teleconverters.
-
+
Lovely optics in close up, didn’t try it yet beyond 1m, lightweight for size yet well balanced on Z7 (or similar size camera).
-
+
Ultra sharp and easy to use.
-
-
Faster auto focus.
I owned the F-mount version and sold it as I also own the Nikkor 70-180 micro zoom, which is tack sharp even after 25 years. I bought this Z version as I am going totally mirrorless. This new lens has replaced my 70-180 in my macro bag.

This lens is super sharp and allows me enough distance as to not disturb most subjects. The only con I think of is the slow focus speed beyond what is already close to the current focus. Recomposing and focus is not an issue. The focus becomes an issue when first searching for the subject.
