Some people are nervous about using a teleconverter, as they have a reputation of reducing image quality by a noticeable amount. This new converter from Nikon proves that doesn't have to be the case.
First, you may need to fine tune your lens focus if your camera has that option. With the Nikkor 200-500, the 1.4 tele front focus around 5+. That might change your images from throwaways to keepers.Second, understand teleconverters were designed for fast apertures and you will lose 1 full stop.
Extends your reach with excellent results. Light weight, quick focus, and great image quality. Works great with Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 (becomes 280-700/8) on D750.

I did not find a noticeable improvement in image quality compared to the older TC1.4 II on the Nikon 500 PF. It is nicer mechanically and has the rubber gasket like newer lenses. If you don't have a TC and want one, you probably should get this one rather than the older version - otherwise use the...
This AF-S Teleconverter TC-14E lll does an excellent job when coupled with the Nikkor AF-S 80-200 f2.8 D, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR Lens, or the NikKor 200-500mm f/5.6 E ED VR Lens. Image quality is excellent with the teleconverter, TC-14E lll used on the above lenses.
Exceeds my expectations! Surprisingly high level of detail with only a loss of one F stop. Excellent results using Teleconverter with an 80-400 VR lens handheld--images are captivating.

Don't have any
I've been hesitant to add a teleconverter to my 200-500 Nikon lens for fear that it would really compromise the photos but I finally bit the bullet and bought one based on seeing some very nice bird photographer's shots that used one of these.
I have owned a TC-20E III but seldom use it because it just doesnt have the sharpness of the TC-14E III. I was always borrowing my wifes 1.4 so I just decided it was time to have my own. Will use it on my next birding trip to Costa Rica and looking forward to the sharpest photos ever.
An upgrade over the prior version. Quick to focus and sharp!
Wonderful addition to my wildlife camera set up. I have it mounted on a Nikon D500 with a 200 to 500 Nikon lens. It gives me that added little bit of distance that I some times need.It also works fine in shoot images of the moon which I love to do.I do loose a little light but so far it has not been...
I tried my Nikon 1.4 II with my Nikon 200-500 and I continued to get an Err message. Nikon said it was compatible but it did not work for me. Bought the Nikon 1.4 III and it works great on the Nikon 200-500. Over 1000 mm on a cropped sensor body like the D500.
