The Olympus 300mm ƒ/4 Pro is one heck of a lens. Simply put. After a long time in development -- it was announced as "in-development" back at CP+ in 2014 -- the biggest, brightest supertelephoto lens of the Micro Four Thirds system is, well, not so "big" after all, physically at least.
Specification Olympus are renowned for high quality lenses and this latest 300mm f/4 optic is aimed at the very top of the range in terms of both quality and also being the longest Micro-Four-Thirds design.
The Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 300mm f/4 IS Pro is the perfect telephoto partner to the flagship OM-D E-M1 camera, forming a fast, well-built, relatively light-weight and fully-weather-proof system that delivers excellent image quality without breaking your back.
If you ask 11k PLN for a 4/300 lens, it should be a truly unique instrument without any flaws, possibly even a trailblazer in some categories. I have to admit Olympus managed to produce such a device. The results are splendid in practically all categories apart from flares and in some of them (e.g.

Considered against what users of other marques might pay, the cost of the Olympus 300mm f/4 does seem to be very reasonable. We can add to that its compact size, relatively light weight and excellent ergonomics. Quality is superb.
For M4/3 shooters, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4.0 IS PRO is the only choice if you want a fast prime lens that offers the same field-of-view coverage as a 600mm lens on a 35mm camera.
This lens is simply the best tele-photo lens I have ever had in my hands. Its image stabilizer does wonders. Whoever is interested in a long first-class tele-photo for mFT lens should buy it.

Optical performance is absolutely stellar. Never have I had such an excellent lens with long focal length. Very fast, precise autofocus. Image stabilizer is incredibly efficient, particularly together with the E-M1.2. Very cheap, considering its 600mm

Weight. Price.
Todella tarkasti piirtävä tele noin puolen vuoden kokemuksella. Ero aikaisempaan Panasonicin 100-400 zoomiin merkittävä. Pehmeydestä ei nyt tietoakaan. Paino kohtuullinen noin pitkälle putkelle. Vakaaja toimii tosi hyvin. Haastetta tietysti liikkuvan kohteen löytämisessä noin pitkällä putkella.
It's hard to bring new info to the table regarding this lens. My main purpose is shooting butterflies and birds, and for this, the 300mm and EM1-ii is an ideal match. You can fill the frame from several meters away and not spook the subjects.
Images taken with this lens are extremely sharp and the colors are rendered beautifully. Handheld shots are great. IS coupled to the OMD I is fantastic.
After using this lens for several thousand exposures over the last month, mainly of birds-in-flight and attached to my Olympus E-M1 Mark II, I continue to be delighted by how fast and accurate the lens acquires focus.
I have never had to use my tripod with this lens because the image stabilization works so well. Photos are tack sharp. I routinely hike into forested areas in search of eagles. Great to travel light under these conditions. Love this lens!
Ive been shooting full frame Canon equipment and L series lenses for years and I think theyre great. Having said that, Im not getting any younger and I made the hard decision to downsize to an Olympus E-M1 Mark II. One of the lenses I purchased is the ED 300 f4 and Im absolutely delighted.
I am extremely impressed with the razor sharp images not to mention the relatively light weight and easy handling of a lens with a 600mm (35 mm format) equivalent field of view. Being able to obtain hand held images, if need be, with such a lens is incredible in my opinion.
I took some time to decide whether or not to pull the trigger and buy this lens, however after purchasing I'm sure it was the right decision, great image quality, decent focusing speed, solid build.
