The Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 is an full-frame mirrorless camera that's great at both still and video shooting. Its well-built, fairly portable and feature-packed. Image quality is in-line with its peers, though autofocus is a little bit behind.

Amateur videographers who also want a capable stills camera
-
-
Stills shooters who need to capture fast action or want a better through-the-viewfinder experience
The Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 is a slimmer, more affordable full-frame camera, with loads of appeal for photographers shopping for an entry-level or midrange model.

Excellent 24MP full-frame sensor, 5-axis IBIS, Improved DFD focus system, 10-bit 4K60 video, 5.9K ProRes Raw with Ninja V, Dust and splash protection, Superb ergonomics, Dual SDXC card slots

L-mount lens library still growing, Tracking focus limited to 6fps
The DC-S5 is ideal for hybrid photo/video shooters who need high performance for both stills and video recording.
I have had this camera shortly after it was released, used it on many events and shoots this year, with just be basic 20-60mm lens, and love it, if you like Panasonic and have micro 4/3rds and consider the upgrade, which is what I did, it's amazing.
I bought this camera. I used this past 1 month still I happy with shooting photgraphy & videography everything is exhalent without AF. most imp. camera AF Without All things We can correction in post but AF Hunting Birthing can't.
Glad I scratched the full frame itch after many months of deliberation. Awesome camera which is pushing me to take more and more photos and to try different things. It goes everywhere with me.

Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Simple Controls
After receiving one on loan, I just had to get one, this camera is an awesome piece of kit with pin sharp photos and an intuitive manual control which makes it easy to co took all of the functions and stop relying on auto mode.

Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Simple Controls
Can hardly believe the value provided by the camera after the firmware updates. The photos look great and the video is just fantastic. I use it with an atomos ninja flame and the footage is just a joy to work with. Would absolutely recommend.

Comfortable to Operate, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Simple Controls
The S5 has replaced my GH5 as my main Video capture camera, but the GH5 is still used. Have used the S5 for our travel video shoot of Scotland and main source of 4K 50fps footage. This is when the horrible S5 Shutter Release button problem was apparent daily.

Flimsy Construction, Poor Battery Life, Uncomfortable
I have used your G series and GH series cameras for many years, both for photography and video. I feel the S series badly needs a more flexible range light weight travel lens. 24-100mm etc.

few lenses available
Upgraded to the S5 after many happy years using the lumix GX8. I chose this because the body size is not any larger than my MFT system, and fits easily into the same bag. Moving to FF is a step up for me, and the difference is quite noticeable when shooting in high ISO situations.

Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Lightweight
S5 is well made and feels solid. Picture quality is general good but not outstanding which also applies to video quality and sound when using in built mics. Contrast detect focusing is ok for stationary still shots but still not as good in continuous focus mode as opposed to phase detect.
