The Panasonic Lumix G 25mm F1.7 ASPH is a compact and lightweight prime lens for Micro Four Thirds camera bodies. It offers an equivalent focal length of 50mm in full-frame terms, and an equivalent maximum aperture of F3.4.
For all there is to like about mirrorless systems – particularly their compact size and light weight – one legitimate area of criticism has been the relatively high cost of many lenses. Aside from a few honourable exceptions, genuinely affordable optics have been in short supply.
Panasonic has done very well with this lens: for the price point, you get a very sharp, very capable lens that's easy to use. If the kit lens isn't fast for your needs, the Panasonic 25mm ƒ/1.7 would be an excellent companion.
Verdict: This Lumix G 25mm is an exceptional lens for portrait or travel photography, given its 35mm equivalent length of 50mm, and the wide f/1.7 aperture makes it easy to shoot handheld in low light conditions.

Solid – it is perhaps one word that fits the tested Panasonic 1.7/25 the best. There are no fireworks but also no slip-ups. In many categories you see good or at least decent results; add to that a very sensible price and you get a lens even more worth recommending than the more expensive and a tad...

Comprising eight elements in seven groups, the Panasonic 25mm has a more complex optical construction than most lenses with a similar angle of view. It also includes one ultra-high refractive index glass element and two aspherical elements, which are designed to minimise chromatic aberration and...
Andy Westlake puts an inexpensive fast normal prime lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras to the test.
The Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 ASPH is a very good standard lens at a very affordable price, making it a must-have purchase if you don't already have a 50mm equivalent lens in your kit-bag.Optically the Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 ASPH is an excellent performer.
Much of the performance of this lens is exemplary, especially considering the modest cost. The only real drawback is the susceptibility to flare, which is very evident in shots taken into the light. If this can be accepted then the lens is without doubt an excellent proposition.
I bought this lens as my first prime for the micro four thirds system. This lens is very good for the price and produces sharp images if you nail the focus. The focal length is a classic. A 50mm equivalent. I shoot this lens on my Olympus OM-D EM 10 Mark II. The auto focus is very fast.
I mainly use this lens to shoot video. And imho it does an excellent job in low light. Would definitely buy again if needed. Price was just right!
This lens isn't bad at all. As you progress you will notice there are better lenses for a few hundred more. I enjoyed this lens before I sold it, but I feel like it is too similar to the kit lens to justify buying on its own. I would recommend this lens for beginners and basically no one else.
Everyone should have a nice fast prime in their kit and, for the price, this one performs very well. I was looking at some off-brand MFT manual lenses for less with a max f/1.1 for my GH4. A price drop in this lens made me purchase this Panasonic prime instead.
Amazing price, amazing product great for portraits. #sweepstakes
I gave this product 3 stars because the lense hood that comes with the lense was the wrong size and is completely unusable. This is a known problem and others have posted on this too. But as far as the lense quality itself, it's changed the quality of my main videos B-roll in a very good way.
Incredibly impressed by this lens. It has been on the body since I received it in the mail. Its incredible how sharp it is wide open and the background blur that it renders is smooth and pleasing to the eye.Definitely one of the first lens to purchase with your micro four thirds system.
Amazing lens!! Works well with the GX85 also available here. #sweepstakes
It's an awesome lens. I'm still new to the Micro 4/3 world, so when I originally bought my GH5 I noticed that the lenses don't see the same as a DSLR. I typically shoot video in gym settings, so I'm in close quarters with people and equipment, which means I need a lens that is capable of shooting in...
Ive had this lens for about 3 weeks now, and Im not disappointed at all. The lens is very sharp for what it is, even wide open, and the focus is extremely fast and pretty accurate too. Obviously this isnt a sigma art lens, but overall its a great addition to my line of lenses.
