This super-telephoto zoom from Panasonic covers a range equivalent to a 200-600mm lens on a 35mm camera, focuses internally, includes optical image stabilisation and costs around £460.
Used it for birdwatching and some other things, takes some getting used to, but get everything right and it's very good.
I was torn between the Panasonic Leica 100 - 400 and the Panasonic 100 - 300 but in the end chose the 100 - 300 because I only have an occasional need of this telephoto range. I have not been disappointed.
Love this little lens. I had the big Tamron and I could no long handheld it on my dslr. Switched to mirrorless and bought this lens for my wildlife shots. Now I want the 100-400. Can never be too long but this is so handy I hesitate to go bigger. Can't wait til spring to capture the song birds.

I bought a used 100-300 which was a dud. I
I have wanted to try bird photography for a while, and wanted to get a lens that had enough range but was not too heavy or too expensive. The 100-300 version ii offered dual stabilization and a reasonable price with acceptable image quality.

Compact Size and Light Weight, Good zoom range
Excellent value for a lens of this focal length. Not too heavy and takes sharp images. Not only good for distant subjects as I've found it takes good photos of butterflies from a few feet away which means they are not disturbed.
