This is the fastest focusing lens in the Pentax lineup and also the quietest. I bought this little gem on April 9th and have shot it many times. It has breathed new life into my K-3 with super fast auto focus which is very precise. Continuous AF is excellent, the tracking is quick and precise.
Works perfectly with my K-50 after the firmware update. This lens is noticeably sharper than the 18-135mm kit lens and has fantastic auto focus speed, especially if not using live view.
I bought this lens reluctantly. The reviews available indicated it might not be as good as I thought I needed, but the better choice was four times the price. Now that I have it, I know that this lens is well suited to my needs. Birds in flight were beyond my old lens because of slow auto focus.
This is one of the fastest focusing lens I have ever used. I have used it with a KS1 and it has given me amazing results. Great clarity and detail. And I've used Canon and Nikon products for years. For anything comparable in price this beats them hands down.
I purchased this lens about a week ago to go along with my Pentax K-70 camera. I wanted a lens that could "reach out and touch someone". I am very much the novice with respect to DSLR photography and have only learned enough to use this lens in the full auto mode.
It's a pretty good lens but the pentax 60/250 is much much better. I find the 55/300 is works best at about 200mm then after that the quality really drops off
Every shot is razor sharp (except a few due to operator error), autofocus is super fast and rarely hunts, color rendition is gorgeous, and bokeh is great. I shot a good chunk of a (outdoor) wedding and the entirety of a (outdoor) portrait session with this lens, and I'm very pleased with the...
I have not used it an awful lot, so far, but I believe it is a well made lens! The pics are as awesome as it gets!
I was impressed with the results of the difference between my old 55-300 lens and the new full frame version on the 55-300 HD PLM WR RE lens. Camera used: Pentax K1 Mark II My old lens is about 14 years old.
Very compact and portable telephoto lens. I'm happy with how fast it focuses. The pictures are terrific.
