The affordable, versatile Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine DS lens isn't the best performer at f/1.4, but it shines when stopped down.

A bit soft at f/1.4., Manual focus design is not for everyone., Omits optical stabilization.

Geared for cinema use., Very sharp when stopped down., Even illumination across frame., Minimal distortion., Available for multiple systems., Affordable.
Bottom Line The affordable, versatile Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine DS lens isn't the best performer at f/1.4, but it shines when stopped down.
So i went into this looking for a cheap 85mm and i stumbled upon this lens. This lens has better quality glass than nikkor DX lenses in my opinion. Also if you know how to shoot fully manual the photographer can add a cinematic quality to their photos.
I use this for both video & stills. I love the clickless aperture control. It's sharpness is good/usable wide open at t/1.5 & gets sharper stopped down. If you're expecting really sharp images though, don't get your hopes up as this isn't that sharp overall.
I have a set of Rokinon Cine lenses and only this one is significantly warmer than the other lenses. Plus the minimum focus distance is bad and you can't get close with this lens.
As a film student, and interested in cinematography, this is perfect for all that I need in making short films. Very professional and crisp looking shots, easy to use.
I have this lens for the Sony a7s and it provides for such beautiful shots. I couldn't be happier with this at the price range.
smooth action, spectacular image good price.
This lens is brilliant. I can't fault it.I shoot a lot of television and corporate jobs. The Lens feels solid to hold. Easy to pull stops and plenty of lens to hold onto when focusing .
This is my first cine lens, i??ve never use the manual iris before and i like it and how it makes a little more professional the work i make with dslr.
Would be the first lens to buy if I had a do-over. Also doubles as a great portrait lens (with focusing skills). -build 98/100 -optics 89/100 -killer value glass
The Rokinon 85mm T1.5 is a great lens for the price. The click-less aperture is a major plus. It is sharp and has great performance. The only downside that I can see is the build quality, but I will see how it holds up as I plan on keeping it for a few years.
