The high price and short focal length make Sigma's 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM a niche lens, but it'll deliver high-quality images that justify the price.

Terrific image quality., Wide f/1.8 aperture, Snappy autofocus

Short zoom doesn't do much., May be overkill for APS-C users., Flaky lens cap .
The Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM is an extraordinary lens, offering prime-level image quality in the fastest zoom ever made for SLRs. Its 28-50mm equivalent range is a little limiting though, and inconsistent autofocus means that it can be difficult to make the most of the excellent optics when...

Super fast constant F1.8 maximum aperture, Excellent optics, even wide open, Fast, silent autofocus, Solid build quality without being over-heavy, Compatible with Sigma's USB dock and Optimization Pro software

Restricted zoom range, Needs detailed AF microadjustment for best results, Inconsistent autofocus in difficult conditions even after microadjustment, Physically rather large for a standard zoom
Ground-breaking f/1.8 maximum aperture wide-angle zoom for APS-C DSLRs gets a workout

f/1.8 maximum aperture, Excellent image quality, Full-time MF option, Very good sharpness

Not full-frame coverage, Somewhat weighty, Modest 2x zoom range
Ever since the industry-shattering announcement of the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 HSM "Art," we couldn't wait to get our hands on a copy. Month after month of delays and pushed back release dates it finally arrived, and what an exciting time it was.

Constant F1.8 aperture throughout zoom range, Excellent build quality throughout the lens' construction, Large focus and zoom rings are perfectly dampened and easy to find and grasp, Capable of shallow-depth of field wide angle portraits, The only fast and wide angle solution for Pentax's many...

Not weather-sealed despite excellent build quality and both internal zoom and focusing, Dreadful autofocus accuracy when using PDAF (looking through viewfinder), Bokeh can be jarring with highlights, producing "frog-egg" or "donut" ring bokeh, Stark color, temperature, and contrast shift from wide...
The word "groundbreaking" seems inadequate for describing the awesomeness of the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens. The primary reason for that awesomeness is the not-seen-in-any-other-zoom-lens f/1.8 aperture.
The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 is a true game changer. I may not be a technical guru, but I love to snap pictures. I use my camera every day, and am always looking for new, incredible equipment that enhances my ability to capture a moment.
The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens is built for APS-C format cameras, providing a 27-52.5mm equivalent full frame field of view. At 1.78 lbs, the lens is not quite a bear; however, you’ll definitely notice an increase and size and weight from other variable aperture zoom lenses built for APS-C...
When the announcement of Sigma’s new 18–35mm lens arrived, some of our staffers chuckled upon opening the e-mail. Why? Because of what appeared to be a typo in the headline: Instead of f/2.8, it quoted f/1.8 as the maximum aperture!
Handling and features This much anticipated standard zoom lens for APS-C format cameras sports a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range and silent internal focusing with full time manual override.
The Sigma 18-35mm Æ’/1.8 DC HSM "Art" lens packs a big punch in features and image quality without a big punch to the wallet. Shockingly sharp images at all apertures, even at Æ’/1.8, with excellent flatness of field and good control over chromatic aberration, distortion and vignetting make this...
I'm a documentary filmmaker &I bought this lens for my Canon C100 Mark II. It's the worlds best lens of its kind, being F/1.8 and a zoom lens, it enables you to shoot footage that's amazing in low light which far surpasses any other lens I own.
This lens is SHARP! It's a must have lens for anyone does indoor photography. When it's wide open at F1.8, background blur (I refused to use the word bokeh; much like I now refuse to drink IPA. Both are sooo over used and abused) is soft ad velvety.

Good Build quality, Sharp, reasonable price, soft velvety background blur.

Bit heavier then I expected.
This lens enable high speed action to be photographed in low light situations. Whether I am shooting as The Digital Eye, LLC, or as a dad at a diving meet, when I cannot use a flash in low light - this is the lens.
This is a classy lens for APS sensor cameras in every way. Build quality is first rate with smooth zoom and focusing action. It is a perfect match for my Canon 70D (or a 7D) Image quality stopped down is razor sharp with virtually no distortion or vignetting.

Excellent build and image quality

One needs to use this lens with care due to the shallow depth of field.
Weather sealed and a quality low light art lens. This lens combined with a micro four thirds could make anything look cinematic. You'll be looking at other sharp lenses and wonder why they can't be this beautiful Sigma. I love Sigma glass. Sigma > Ziess any day.
its a great lens for rebel cameras, not so much for full frame unless you zoom into 24mm and up but other than that worth buying
